Purpose
This document describes how to download and install OceanStor DeviceManager Demo, how
to use Demo, and how to troubleshoot common issues.

1 Overview
Restrictions
Configuration data provided by Demo is generated based on scenario simulations. You can
perform simulated operations, such as query and configuration, on Demo. However, the
operation results may differ from those of OceanStor DeviceManager in actual scenarios.
This chapter describes how to install and run Demo, and how to use Demo to experience
storage systems' functions and features.
2.1 Preparations
Check the Demo operating environment and prepare the Demo installation file.
2.2 Installing Demo
You need to install Demo before using it.
2.3 Starting Demo
After installing Demo, you need to start Demo before accessing it.
2.4 Logging In to Demo
You can log in to Demo to configure and use basic functions of DeviceManager.
2.5 Experiencing Storage System Functions
Huawei OceanStor storage systems are mainly configured and managed by DeviceManager.
You can experience functions provided by the storage systems by simulating task scenarios on
DeviceManager Demo.
2.6 Stopping and Uninstalling Demo
This section describes how to stop and uninstall Demo.
2.1 Preparations
Check the Demo operating environment and prepare the Demo installation file.
Procedure
Step 1 Check the Demo operating environment.
Ensure that the available system disk space of the host that runs Demo is no less than 1 GB.
Demo is installed on the system disk by default and the installation path cannot be changed. If the
available system disk space is less than 1 GB, Demo may not run properly.
The package contains the DeviceManager Demo installation software and related guides.
c. Click XXX DeviceManager Demo Installation Package and click at the end
of the document or Download in the middle of the page that is displayed to
download the package.
The package contains the DeviceManager Demo installation software and related guides.
To download software packages from Huawei Support websites, you must have the download
permission. If you do not have the permission, apply for the permission on the websites.
2. Download the OpenPGP signature verification tool and verification guide by accessing

3. Verify the integrity of the installation package by referring to OpenPGP Signature
Verification Guide.
4. Decompress the installation package to obtain the installation file.

Prerequisites
You have obtained the Demo installation file.
Procedure
Step 1 Double-click the Demo installation file.
The Read to Install page is displayed.

Follow-up Procedure
Check whether the installation is correct.
Prerequisites
l You have installed Demo.
l Ports 8088, 8989, and 8080 of the operating system are not used.
Context
l Only one Demo can be started at a time.
l Demo can be started only by an administrator. If you are not an administrator, select
start demo, right-click it, and choose Administrator from the shortcut menu.
Procedure
On the desktop of the maintenance terminal, choose Start > All Programs >
DeviceManagerDemoforXXX > start demo.
The Demo startup window is displayed. The startup window will automatically close after
Demo is started.
Prerequisites
You have started Demo.
Procedure
Step 1 Open a browser on the local host and enter https://localhost:8088/ or https://127.0.0.1:8088
in the address box. If you log in to Demo on another host, replace localhost or 127.0.0.1 with
the IP address of the local host.
l You may fail to log in to Demo by clicking the preceding address. Therefore, enter the address in the
address box of the browser and press Enter to log in to Demo.
l The IP address of the local host indicates the IP address of the host on which Demo has been started.
Ensure that the two hosts can communicate with each other over the network.
The browser displays a message indicating that there is a problem with this website's security
certificate. Windows Internet Explorer is used as an example in this document.
Step 3 On the Demo login page, select an authentication mode, enter the user name and password,
and click Log In.
The default user name and password of a local user for logging in to Demo are admin and
Admin@storage, respectively.

3 FAQs
This chapter describes how to handle problems that are commonly encountered during Demo
use.
Answer
This problem is caused by existence of multiple Java paths in system environment variables,
that is, other Java environments were installed before Demo. Handle the problem as follows:
1. On the desktop of the maintenance terminal, choose Start > Control Panel.
2. Click System.
3. Click Advanced System Settings.
4. Click the Advanced tab.
5. Click Environment Variables.
6. Check the value of Path to see whether multiple Java paths exist.
– If yes, retain the last Java path value and delete other Java paths.
– If no, contact technical support engineers.
