Example On Design of Uniaxial Short Column

This document provides an example of designing a braced uniaxial short column to resist an axial load of 950 kN and bending moments. The key steps are: 1. Determine the design properties of concrete and steel. 2. Check if the column is short or slender based on its slenderness ratio. 3. Calculate the total design eccentricity. 4. Determine the design bending moment. 5. Calculate design ratios and determine steel ratio from interaction diagram. 6. Calculate longitudinal reinforcement and check against limits. Stirrups are also designed.
