WRITE THE DATE & THE DAY ON THE BOARD

Ss and you sit in a circle in the classroom. This is your routine from now
on and there is no excuse not to have an inner U shape with the
students sitting on the chairs. NOT ON THEIR USUAL SEATS.
Use the daily Speak Up Casual Conversation Questions structures to
ask the Ss.

**Corrective (Positive) feedback: Repeat the wrong sentences with the

correct form. Ask someone else to repeat the correct sentences his/her
friend said. Never say ‘We don’t say it like that’. Always encourage full
sentence by starting the sentence for the students ‘You go ……’. Elicit
first, never give the full answer. Set your expectations.

SPEAK UP Casual Conversation Questions:

- Do you play any sports? Why? Why not?

- Which extreme sport would you like to try, and why?
- Do you think it is good for animals to be used for sports and e- Are
you a member of any sports team?  Why? Why not?

PART C - GAIN ATTENTION

READ TO FEED (2 mins)

Explain ss ;
There are many reasons to read, some read for fun, some read
for pleasure and some read for information. The reasons always
change.
As Binet schools, we read for the reasons we
mentioned furthermore we read to feed.
Ask ss the reasons they read currently and elicit the answers.
Ask ss how many books they have read, write the scores on the
board for each student.

STUDENTS’ PRESENTATION
Assist ss from the board for each base lesson in advance and
inform that they will choose one of the books they have read to
feed.
Tell ss that they have 5 mins to talk about the book; theme,
character and time-setting.
Give them star as “Read to Feed”.
Motivate ss.

FRAMES FOR WRITING;
SS may use the template to write a summary to use while
presenting the book they read.

Write spaces on the board for each letter in the word basketball:

__________

Say: This is a sport. Can you give me a letter?

(10 mins) Ask students to suggest letters until someone guesses the sport. After
they find the answer, ask:
 Do you play basketball?
 Do you watch basketball on TV?
 Is there anyone who plays basketball in your family?

Then, say the following true/false statements to see what students know
about basketball. Ts can write the verbs on the whiteboard at the same
time.

In basketball you…

 …bounce the ball. (true)

 ... hit the ball. (false)
 ... throw the ball. (true)
 ... kick the ball. (false)
 ... catch the ball. (true)

STEP 1

Student’s Book Page 40

Ask students to look at the photo on page 40. Ask these questions about
the photo:

 What sport is this? (basketball)

 How many people can you see? (four)
 How many teams are there? (two)
 What are the colors of each team? (yellow, blue and red; green,
pink and yellow)
 Where is the ball? (on the floor)

Write the letters on the man’s uniform (KCT) on the white board. Tell
students that these letters refer to this team’s name. And ask students to
(10 mins)
guess the name of the team. After you elicit some ideas from the
students, write the name of the team ‘KING CHARLES TROUPE’ on the
white board.

Give some info about this team: “This is a group of young men out of the
New York. They play an unbelievable game of high-energy basketball on
unicycles.”

Play the video about this group (you may watch 2-3 mins). After you
watch the video, ask these questions:

 Can you ride on this bicycle?

 Would you like to do the same moves?
 Are they talented?
 Is it easy to do?

Then, play the TR: 55 and point to the words in the box and ask students
to do the same.

STEP 2

Unknown words:

(10 mins) TEAM: Use the photo to show students what a team is. Say: A team is a
group of people who play together. They’ve usually got the same-colored
clothes.

DIFFERENT: Point to the two players with red, yellow, and blue clothes
and say They’re on the same team. Point to one of the players with red,
yellow and blue and another player with pink, green and yellow and say
They’re on different teams.

EASY: Pick up the ball and bounce it. Say ‘I’m bouncing the ball. It’s
easy.’ Then try to spin the ball on your finger and say ‘I am trying to spin
the ball. It isn’t easy.’

FANTASTIC: Write on the board:

** = OK ***=GOOD ****=VERY GOOD *****=?

Then say and write the word FANTASTIC.

STEP 3

Student’s Book Page 40

Play the TR: 56. Ask students to listen and read the text. Then ask:
 Is this sport easy? (no)
 Can you ride a bike?

Listen to students' responses. Draw a bike on the white board and say
Look. This is a wheel. Ask:

 How many wheels has a bike got? (two)

Now look at the photo. Point to the unicycle. Say This is a unicycle.

Ask:

 How many wheels has a unicycle got? (one)

 Can you ride a unicycle? (no)
 Why is this sport difficult? (The players are on unicycles.)

Then, point to item 1 and read it aloud. Say A lot of people like
basketball. Do you? Ask several students.

Then, say Let's read the first paragraph. What does it say? Invite a
volunteer to read the first two sentences aloud. Then say A lot of people
like basketball. So this is true. Let's write T for true.

Tell ss to continue the activity, then discuss the answers as a class.

STEP 4 (HOME CONNECTION)

At this stage, you are going to watch home connection works as a class.
Ss are asked to share their home connection works before the lesson.
You should play their videos and let the class watch.

For those who don’t have their videos, you can ask them to present in the
lesson and record while speaking.
Silence should be provided in the lesson so be sure other ss stay silent
while watching the videos.
