Background

As part of the preparations to the Sambuokan Festival, "Undas," and the Mindanao
Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Games 2022 being made by the City Local
Government of Mati City, the TESDA Davao Oriental took part in the City-Wide Cleanup
Drive on October 27, 2022.
TESDA Davao Oriental Provicial Office personnel and staff, representatives,
learners, trainers and even school administrators from the Public and Private Technical
Vocational Institutions namely Provincial Training Center-Davao Oriental, Mati Polytechnic
College (with special participation of the Colegio de Caraga), Dvo. Oriental Institute of
Technology Inc., Don Bosco Training Center-Mati and Maritime Institute of Davao Oriental
Inc. were present and actively participated in sustaining the clean and green campaign.

Significant Outcome/Results of the Event


All of the active participants work together to clean up and properly dispose of
plastics and other non-biodegradable waste in the vicinity of their respective premises.
TESDA will consistently integrate this initiative into the Agency's Green TVET Program
along with other programs, activities, and projects that promote environmental protection,
sustain biodiversity, and limit, if not prevent, environmental degradation as the current
government works diligently towards a plastic-litter-free city. Cleanups can work as

catalysts for long-lasting changes in behavior and attitude as well as encourage
communities to

adopt positive behaviors like reuse and recycling, which have a significant impact on waste
management in a community.
