I. Background & Rationale:

The Department of Education (DepEd), through the External partnerships Service (EPS), shall
implement the Brigada Eskwela (BE) program in time for the preparation for the opening of classes
for School year (sy) 2022-2023 on August 22, 2022 pursuant to DepEd order (Do) No. o34, s. 2022
titled School calendar and Activities for the School Year 2022-2023. The different components of
Brigada Eskwela Program shall be implemented starting August I to 26, 2022 for its Brigada
Eskwela sa Paghahanda and shall continue with the year-round implementation of Brigada Iskwela
Plus and Brigada Pagbasa.

The BE Program shall focus on the following:

d. Creation of a network of community-based organizations to get total community commitment for


collaborative programs and projects including the Brigada Pagbasa (BP), a partnership initiative in
response to Hamon: Bawat Bata Bumabasa, issued under DepEd Memorandum (DM) No. 173, s.

2O19, and other partnership programs and projects consistent with DO 4O, s. 20 15 titled Guidelines
on K to 12 Partnerships. In line with this, Calabuanan National High School provided different
activity and intervention that will provide students with commitment in reading habit and help them
develop their comprehension in the said activity.

II. Activities:

This activity/intervention entitled: “Sa Pagbasa, Guro ang Kasama”, adheres to focus on reading and
learned to comprehend their analysis and vocabulary. This activity was done every 10:00 am which
is called 10:00 AM habit. All grade 9 students were going to read the story, passages and texts given
by their teacher. It is also a guided reading wherein they are going to read in front of their teacher
one-by-one just to make sure the correctness of the text they are reading. For every mistake, they
should be corrected the moment they read the words un-pronounced.

IV. Recommendation:

Every school must adopt this kind of intervention because it is a great help for every learner who had
hard time in reading. This is an easy way to bridge the gap brought by pandemic.
