QUESTION /SOALAN
As a system administrator, you have been assigned to manage a new web server
which hosts the company’s web site. The web site contains information about the
company’s products and services. The server will be migrated to PRODUCTION
environment in 2-weeks’ time. It is your responsibility to ensure all of the security
aspects of the web server is being managed prior to the server’s migration to
PRODUCTION environment. The web server runs on Windows Server 2003 operating
system. You are tasked to set up a log monitoring management for the new web
server.

a) Describe factors to be considered for log monitoring management. Based on

the mentioned factors, propose a logging and monitoring policy and process for
the web server. To rationalise the chosen options, if applicable.

b) In addition to an anti-virus software, propose a security tool to provide

additional security to or protect the web server. The tool can be a software
installed on the web server or additional device/hardware.
- Describe the tool and the type of protection (in term of security
risks and threats) that the tool can provide to the web server.

- Find the tool in 2 different product name/brand (for example anti-

virus software brand A and anti-virus software brand B) and make a
comparative study based on cost, features, strengths and limitations.
