Activity 2: Keywords to remember and contrast.

Read Reyes, R. (2000 Ground and norm of morality: ethics for college students. Quezon City: Ateneo de
Manila University Press, pages 1-7

1. Define ethics.

The study of ethics focuses on the rational bases for moral judgments; it explores what is ethically
right or wrong, fair or unfair. In a broader sense, ethics considers how people behave and interact with
one another and with the natural world as well as their own freedom, responsibility, and sense of
fairness. It helps us remain focused on taking the good or proper action, which might be a crucial or
challenging choice. Knowing the effects of your choices will aid you in making the best choice. That’s
why it is important in our daily living and what it can do to help us to become more passionate.

Ethical behavior is characterized as being honest, fair, knows equality and knows to obey rules
especially on professionalism. Even in a simple manner of being fair that applies the golden rule that is
“Don’t do unto others what you don’t want others to do unto you’’, putting yourself in the position of
others and being considerate of every different perception.

Ethics can also be universal and sometimes it misidentifies as aesthetics, etiquette, and technique
though there are some similarities with it, but they have a big difference like aesthetic that comes with
senses or feeling, etiquette that deals with proper way of an action depending on the situation that is
happening, while techniques is about proper or appropriate way of doing things or constant.

2. What is the difference between ethics and morals?

It is possible to define ethics as the study and comprehension of the ideals of human conduct and
ideal modes of thought. Depending on the circumstance being depicted, it could be advantageous or
disadvantageous. It focuses more on a person's interactions or behavior with other people and the
outside world. Selecting the correct course of action is essential for you. It might be viewed as
appropriate or inappropriate behavior, or as ethical or immoral. The term "morals," on the other hand,
might relate to certain convictions or attitudes that individuals have in order to define actions that
people take. There is an established code that can be used to judge someone behavior. A person's
morals are defined by his or her behavior, and if he falls short behaving properly, it is immoral.

In short, ethics are the set of principles or the theory that decide a person's moral values and morals
define personal character and refer to the beliefs that a person practices when he interacts in personal
and social relationships.

3. Differentiate ethics from aesthetics, etiquette, and technique.

Ethics are composed of principles that decides a person’s moral values. Basis of moral judgement of
an individual depending on the situation that is upheld. It is a set of rules which you need to choose to
know if it’s a good action to take. Ethics can also be universal and sometimes it misidentifies as
aesthetics, etiquette, and technique though there are some similarities with it, but they have a big
difference like aesthetic that comes with senses or feeling. The judgement are made by reference to a
particular features of what is judged. The difference is aesthetic is judged or governed depending on the
taste or what is beautiful to the person while ethics is a set of rules and principles. Etiquette that deals
with proper way or a polite way of an action to deal with the society, while techniques is about proper
or appropriate way of doing things or a constant way of doing some certain things.
Activity 3: Analyzing Case

Read Read Bulaong, O. et. al. (2018). Ethics: foundation of moral valuation. Manila: Rex
Bookstore, pages 5-7(see uploaded PDF file).

Last June 11, 2020, the Lucban Municipal Police Station (LMPS) posted on their Facebook page:
“Mahalin natin ang mga kababaihan at huwag nyo abusuhin ang kanilang kabaitan. Kayo naman mga
ghErlsz, wag kayo magsuot ng pagkaikli-ikling damit at pag naman nabastos ay magsusumbong din sa
amin. Isipin nyo rin!” This post became viral on the world-wide-web. Comments on this post flooded the
different social media platforms. This particular post tells women to avoid
wearing certain clothes.

You need to analyze this case. There are conflicting thoughts on the post of LMPS. Are clothes just
a matter of aesthetic? or Can clothes become an ethical problem? Explain your answers. Explain it in 7 to
10 sentences. Turn in your answer in Google Classroom

Yes, clothes may just a matter of aesthetic. A set of clothing is depending on the taste of an
individual, it might also because it is what we see or what is trending on our era. We have different taste
of clothing, there are some people who love to dress like a bratz or a y2k vibes, some are minimal or
called minimalist vibes, there are also some people who love to dress with modesty and many more to
mention. Clothing as a subject of ethics since it is concerned of what is wrong and right. We all study
GMRC in our early school year and even at home we have this nature of manners. Not all clothes are
acceptable or appropriate in some specific places.

We are being disciplined even in our young ages on how to respect others and some appropriate
manners to deal with. Dressing might be an impact with the pleasure of our flesh but it doesn’t mean
that being revealing should get less respect because even babies and kids are being raped, being
abused. Now, how can we say that dressing is caused of raped.

Let’s accept that there are really bad people or evil people that didn’t know how to treat and
respect others right. Stop protecting those kind people and blaming girls for what happened to them.
They are the victims.
