Project Charter

Project Title: Company Camping Trip to Glacier Peaks

Project Start Date: 01/01/2022

Project End Date: 08/15/2022

Project Manager: Jordan Seefeldt

Project Description:
The project is to plan a company team building camping trip that would improve senior
management’s team collaboration, communication, and conflict resolution. In result, leading
to an increase in productivity.

Project Objectives

 Research surrounding the expenses, national park, retreats, campgrounds, permits,

travel, equipment, rentals, and team-building activities will be completed by
02/01/2022.
 The camping trip will be discussed with the CEO, CFO, COO, CHRO, and managers
from each department by 02/15/2022, to ensure everyone’s attendance.
 Once confirmed all selected executives will be able to attend, research will be
complied to present to the sponsor by 03/01/2022.
 With Sponsors’ approval, reservations can be made for the retreat, transportation
needed, and team building activities by 03/15/2022.
 As needed, reservations will be continued to be made and costs evaluated.
 Itineraries for executives attending will be made available to them on 07/29/2022.
 Executives will go to the camping retreat at Glacier Peaks National Park on
08/01/2022 by a rented bus charter at 6:00am, arriving at the national park at
8:00am.
 Executives will stay for two nights and three days leaving the park by 4:00pm on
08/03/2022.

Project Scope

 The company camping trip to Glacier Peaks National Park is to boost company
morale, create a positive company culture, and through team-building increase
productivity. Research suggests executive retreats can boost productivity by 20%.
 The project manager assistant and I will propose different options/recommendations
based on cost, time, and scope to the sponsor.
 The retreat campground will include cabins, tents, some activities at request, and
three meals a day. The activities that are available upon request at several retreats
in the area are: Meditation sessions, Yoga sessions, special speakers from the
Blackfeet Tribe, guided hiking trips, kayak rentals, boat rentals, and bike rentals.
Meals included at the surrounding retreats normally include three meals served at
8am, 12pm, and 6pm. Retreats offer different lists with of wide variety of options for
meal reservations. Estimates for groups of 10-12 people will cost an estimate of
$2000 excluding extra fees that may occur at the retreat. Fishing pole, kayak, boat,
grill, and bike rentals will be extra fees. Other food and drinks will be needed and will
be another expense that should be accounted for, approximately $400-$600. Fees
not included in resort price are estimated to account for approximately $500-$1000
(varying on activities the group participate in). Fishing licenses for executives will not
be included in project costs.
 Another resource we will need is a team building expert. They should be present to
lead the executives in team building activities. This position can be hired for
internally or externally, the person must have experience in this area. A team
building expert will ensure focus on team building exercises that boost productivity.
If we hire internally we could estimate a cost around $3,000. If we hire externally it
can be upwards of $10,000.
 Create an itinerary planning out the days at the retreat to give to the executives with
the team building expert.
 Transportation from the job location to the campground will be available.
Transportation after the retreat will be available from the campground to the job
location. Transportation from job location home will not be available. Transportation
will cost approximately $600-$800.
 The executives will still be paid on the retreat and be paid the same amount they
would at work.
 When executives return to work, collaboration and communication across
departments should improve. Relationships between the executives should be
stronger and more personal. Survey executives at the end of the retreat to see how
they feel about their relationship growth with their colleagues. Productivity is
expected to improve by at least 5% and at most 25%. However, specifics of the
results will take a few weeks to months to monitor and will not be included in this
project.

 Research documents to the sponsor (Includes estimated expenses, Glacier Peak

National Park information, different retreat options, and expected required

 Team building expert
