Introduction

Over the past two decades, online gaming has undergone a dramatic transformation. The

emergence of many genres of online gaming has attracted players of varying ages and

demographics. While some were interested in first-person shooters (FPS), others preferred

massively multiplayer online battle arena (Moba). The other game genre is exceptional in terms

of both gameplay and community.

Valorant and Wild Rift are two of the most well-known online games. Both are popular

among fans of their genres since they each have their qualities. These games hook players,

inspire them to talk about their favorite games with others, unite fans of different games under a

standard banner, and establish tournaments as a staple of the community. People often associate

online gaming with mindless entertainment or addiction, but with the expansion of the gaming

industry, it has become much more than that.

Statement of the Problem

Worldwide, online gaming has become popular. Alternately, the preferences or tastes of

the players vary throughout time. Throughout gameplay, Valorant, and League of Legends: Wild

Rift are frequently compared in every aspect. Various circumstances may influence them to play

any of the games.

This market research also aims to answer the following queries:

1. What do the teenagers of Sta. Rita prefer between Wild Rift and Valorant?

2. What do teenagers of Sta. Rita consider in playing Wild Rift and Valorant?
Important of the Study

The constructive idea of online gaming will be provided by this market research. In

addition, the detail explains the preferences of gamers between Valorant and League of Legends:

Wild Rift. The success of the market research will have the great importance to the following:

To the Gamers – This will help them evaluate the games aspect of Valorant and League

of Legends: Wild Rift. It will enable them to voice out what they want to say about the

mentioned games.

To the Game Developers – This will help them know the gamers' preferences in a

particular age range. This research will serve as valuable learning material for them to effectively

develop and maximize the games despite different tastes.

To the Researcher – It will help them develop their skills and knowledge to understand

other people's interests or points of view. This will be an excellent use for them in terms of

gathering data they need on the topic they are interested in.

To the Future Researchers – This market research will help future researchers who want

to develop or conduct studies about gamers' preferences. This would be the basis of future

research wishes to embark on an analysis of a similar topic.

Definition of Terms

First Person Shooters (FPS) - a sub-genre of shooter video games centered on gun and

other weapon-based combat in a first-person perspective


Third Person Shooters (TPS) - a sub-genre of 3D action video game in which the player

character is visible on-screen

Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) – is a subgenre of strategy video games in

which two teams of players compete against each other on a predefined battlefield.

Each player controls a single character with a set of distinctive abilities that improve over the

course of a game and which contribute to the team's overall strategy

Research Method

In this market research, the researcher used a questionnaire to gather data. For the data

procedure, respondents created an online questionnaire survey that provides information about

the market research that can be easily converted into quantitative data allowing statistical

analysis of responses. Doing an online survey offers an advantage for the researcher to

accumulate data safely, making it more accessible to the respondents and virtually interpreted by

the researcher.

Research Instrument

The researcher made a self-constructed questionnaire to utilize as the instrument to

determine the gamer's preference between Valorant and League of Legends: Wild Rift. The

researcher used the Likert scale, which is well-known in attitude measurement, where they are
used to ask subjects to evaluate a set of statements using scales with common categories such as

strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree, and strongly disagree.

Respondents

The researcher limited the data collection to the selected gamers from Barangay Sta Rita,

Pinamalayan. The researcher chooses teenage gamers because they are the youth currently the

most significant users of the internet and online games. Those respondents will be the source of

the market research to determine which game is mostly preferred between Valorant and League

of Legends. Ten (10) teenage respondents are gamers from Barangay Sta. Rita, Pinamalayan.

Research Findings

This market research finds out that League of Legends: Wild Rift is the game that gamers

from Barangay Sta. Rita preferers. The level of satisfaction of playing the mentioned game on

mobile devices makes it preferable to the users than the other online games. Respondent's

response shows that they can only play Valorant on their personal computer, primarily in

computer shops they rented to be used.

Even though Valorant is a very well-known game by players nowadays, there is still an

issue about why Valorant has a lower player count. The only problem Valorant has is that

Valorant is only available on one platform, the laptop and desktops, unlike League of Legends:

Wild Rift, which is also available on mobile devices.


Research Conclusions

Based on the findings derived from the results of the study, the following statements are

the conclusions:

1. The findings revealed that League of Legends: Wild Rift has more players than Valorant.

2. The teenage gamers of Barangay Sta. Rita prefer League of Legends: Wild Rift to

Valorant.

3. League of Legends: Wild Rift can be played on mobile devices where gamers can switch

from computers. 

Recommendations

Based on the conclusions presented, the following recommendations are suggested:

1. League of Legends: Wild Rift should keep their game user-friendly and improve its

overall aspects.

2. Valorant should consider making their game playable on mobile devices.

3. League of Legends: Wild Rift and Valorant are encouraged to develop their game to

continually pursue more users worldwide continually.
