1. How can you identify the thesis statement in an academic text? (10 points)
I’m able to identify the thesis statement in an academic text by finding the
arguable statement which is usually found near the end of the opening
paragraph of an essay. And I’m able to find the arguable statement by
distinguishing the sentence that I think is attempting to convince or persuade
me to believe the claims that are presented which also contains some of the
author’s opinion about the topic.
2. Write a one paragraph personal reflection about Marriage at a Young Age. Do

not forget to include your thesis statement. (10 points)
The result and cause of marriage at a young age vary from one person to
another. But according to studies, those who are married between the age of 22
and 25 are likely to have an intact marriage with the highest quality, and those
who are married before the age of 18 are more likely to divorce and suffer
depression. Marriage at a young age isn’t advisable and recommended
especially without any knowledge about raising a family or a lack of family
planning, because it would not only harm you but the family you’re going to
create.
3. Write a strong thesis statement of the ff: (3 points each)
*COVID-19 VACCINATION
The Covid-19 vaccines offer security and protection for the community against
the Covid-19 virus and shouldn’t be frightening, because all of these vaccines
are scientifically proven effective, safe, and are FDA approved.
*NEWSPAPER
Because of the continuously rising technology and numerous media networks

which provide quick updates and news leading to newspapers getting rejected
and ignored by the majority of people, it would be better to completely stop the
production of newspapers since it would only waste resources, time and labor.
* DEATH PENALTY
Because of the increasing number of crimes committed every day from simple
thievery to murder, the death penalty would be the righteous punishment for
those who’ve made great offenses according to the law, it may contradict
religious beliefs but it’s a great way to bring justice to victims.
* SUICIDE
Suicide is the major cause of death in the world before physical health
diseases, according to WHO, more than 700,000 people died due to suicide
every year because of untreated mental illnesses.
* STUDYING ABROAD
Studying abroad would only be effective and beneficial if the school you’re
enrolled in has significant classification and standards, because what’s great
about studying abroad if it would offer the same quality at a local educational
institution unless you have to or you desperately want to.
