16. Two rollers of weight 50N & 100N are connected by a flexible string AB. The rollers rest on two
mutually perpendicular planes DE & DF as shown in fig. Find the tension in the string and angle that
it makes with the horizontal when the system is in equilibrium.

26. A 6m uniform ladder weighing 300N is placed against a vertical wall. Its inclination with the ground is
600. At what distance from the lower end of the ladder a man weighing 800N should climb before
slipping of the ladder starts. The coefficient of friction for all the contact surfaces is 0.2.

27. A uniform ladder 4m long weighs 200N. It is placed against a wall making an angle of 500 with the floor.
In addition to its own weight, the ladder supports a man of 800N at its top. Calculate: (a) The horizontal

applied than find the inclination of the ladder with the floor so that it does not slip when the man is at its

3. Explain D’Alembert’s principle. Two blocks A & B of weight 20N and 10N are attached

released from the rest and the block B falls through a vertical distance of 2m, what is the
velocity attained by the block B?

then removed, how much further will it move?
