IMPORTANT NOTE:
This getting started paper contains important information for your initial log-on to the SAP
Master Data Governance, cloud edition – trial version on SAP Business Technology Platform
Trial. Make sure to read the instructions prior to your initial log on.

Basic information for participants in the trial, SAP’s expectations, and log-on information
Business processes and enterprise analytics depend on consistent and reliable data. This holds true for all
economies, even more so in times of change and instability like we are facing right now. SAP Master Data
Governance on S/4HANA is our proven master data management solution that helps our customers run their
business based on high-quality data. It is available as an on-premise and private-cloud offering. Now we are
extending SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) with an additional deployment option: SAP Master Data
Governance, cloud edition. This complementary solution governs core (that is, application-agnostic) master data
attributes based on SAP One Domain Model and is planned to use SAP Master Data Integration for sharing
master data across hybrid landscapes. Application-specific master data attributes are in the realm of de-central

 applications. This allows for a modular master data management approach which ensures that master data is
governed where it is best understood.
Initially, SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition focuses on Business Partner data.
SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition provides fast time to value and is planned as a low entry point for
new SAP MDG customers while offering existing SAP MDG implementations a non-disruptive deployment option
to build to a more granular system network for master data management.

With this 30 days’ trial version, we would like to invite you to get a first glance and hands-on experience. Please
note that this trial focuses on selected basic features and does not provide the complete functional scope of SAP
Master Data Governance, cloud edition.

Trial Scope
The functional scope of the 30 days’ trial version of SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition has deliberately
been limited to basic features in governing core attributes of Business Partner data. It is intended to give testers
the look & feel and first hands-on experience.
Note: For each trial account, you can create one user only.

Log-on information (Initial Log-on)

From the SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition Free Trial welcome page, you can start the trial.

 Click on Start the Trial.

Complete the registration form.

Click on Continue to Trial Home.

Before the creation of your trial account can be finalized, you must select the region that operates the trial
account for SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition.
Important: The trial of SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition can only be operated from the US.

Select US East as the region that operates the trial account for SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition and
click on Create Account.

Now, you have been granted access to your personal trial sub-account. In the following, you need to make initial
settings for your account which are a one-time activity. Subsequent log-ons are straightforward.

The Welcome to SAP Business Technology Platform Trial page is displayed:

 Select Enter Your Trial Account.

Select trial.

Public
 Select Service Marketplace.

Scroll down to Integration Suite.

Select the tile Master Data Governance, cloud edition - Trial Version.

Select Master Data Governance, cloud edition - Trial Version and click on Create.

Public
 Select Create.

Select View Subscription.

The processing screens are displayed subsequently.

Important: Once the processing is complete, do not click on Go to Application. This would disrupt the process.
Instead, return to your subaccount page as follows:

 Select trial.

Assign subsequently the appropriate role collections “MDG_Trial” and “MDG_Workflow_User“. Start with
“MDG_Trial” and proceed as follows:

Select Security -> Role Collection.

Select MDG_Trial.

Select Edit.

Public
 In edit mode, go to the Users section and enter the e-mail address that you used to register as user ID.
Note: You can retrieve this information by clicking on your first name that
is displayed at the top of the screen.
Do not use the user information displayed in the window on the right. This
is just sample data.

Your user data is displayed like the sample data:

Once you have entered your user information, click on Save.

Repeat the steps above for role collection „MDG_Workflow_User“:

 Select Edit.
Enter your ID and Save.

Select trial.

Select Instances and Subscriptions.

Public
 Select Go to Application.

As a final step, create your trial user:

On this screen, read the terms of use for this 30 days’ trial.
If you agree, click on Get User.

Note: For each trial account, you can create one user only.
The system displays the following pop-up window with a link to the test application:

Important: Once the initial log-on procedure is complete, you can use this link to directly access your test
application later. Bookmark this link and add it to your favorites.
Click on the URL.

Public
 You have accessed the test application and can start trying it out.

Information about the processes

You can access the test application using the tiles displayed on the launchpad.

Note: To display additional information about the processes triggered by the individual tiles, you can call the
Web Assistant.

To do so, click on the “?“ at the top of the screen.

 To display process overview diagrams, click on the link under Further information.

Manage Business Partners

With this app, you can display, create, and change business partners. You can use Manage Business
Partners as a single point of entry to create, display, and edit your master data.

Manage Governance Processes

This app enables you to manage mass processes for business partner data.

Track Changes
The Track Changes app enables you to display and monitor the changes on field level that were made to
a business object based on a consolidation, mass processing or mass maintenance process.

Workflow Inbox
With this app you can approve or reject the tasks that you have submitted in the Manage Business
Partners and Manage Governance Processes apps.

Display Data Quality Rules

With this app you can access a central rule repository with predefined rules. You can select each rule to
display its details. You can use these rules to check the quality of your master data.

Evaluation Results
With this app you can analyze your data quality rule evaluation results. The app displays the evaluation
outcome for data quality rules applied to your business partner records. You can determine which business

 partners have errors and which do not, to find areas of bad data or reasons for incorrect data. You can also
start the correction of data from this app.

Manage Consolidation Processes

The Manage Consolidation Processes feature enables you to manage consolidation processes including
creation, filtering, and deletion.

Manage Imports
With this app you can upload records for consolidation into the source data tables using an Office Open
XML or CSV file.

Manage Source Data

With this app you can organize your source data for your consolidation process. You can view a list of your
source data organized by source system and divided by data package,

Subsequent log-on to your trial account

As pointed out before, subsequent log-ons to the trial account are straightforward. Once you have completed the
initial log-on procedure, you can easily re-enter your trial account and access the test application by clicking the
bookmarked link.

If you have not bookmarked the link, you can still access your test application easily. Proceed as follows:

Enter https://hanatrial.ondemand.com/ → Enter Your Trial Account.

Select trial.

Public
 Select Active Subscriptions.

Click on the Go to Application icon.

Your specific application URL is displayed according to the scheme displayed below.

To access to the test application, click on the link.

Trouble-Shooting

During the creation of my sub-account, I did not wait until the processing was complete, and selected "Go to
Application" before assigning the appropriate role collections first.
Close the browser and renew the session.

I cannot find the SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition trial version in the Service Marketplace.
If you have chosen a region that does not operate the trial account for SAP Master Data Governance, cloud
edition, you will not find the SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition trial version. In this case, you can
create a new subaccount from the “Subaccounts” menu entry. After creation, you must entitle this subaccount for
the SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition trial version.
Example: You have chosen Singapore (Azure) – cf-ap21 as subaccount region.

 Click on New Subaccount.

a. Enter a Display Name.

b. Select the provider Amazon Web Services (AWS).
c. Choose region US East (VA).
d. Enter subdomain (for example, you may start with the numbers of your global account).
e. Click on Create.
The subaccount creation is processed.

 Once the process is complete, you must manually set the entitlements for this subaccount.
Click on the subaccount tile.

Select Entitlements.
Click on Configure Entitlements and then on Add Service Plans.

a. Enter search term Master Data… (The entitlement SAP Master Dara Governance appears for this
subaccount).
b. Select shared (Subscription) for the Trial version of SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition.
c. Click on Add 1 Service Plan.

Click on Save.

 a. Select Service Marketplace.
b. Enter search term Master Data and select SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition – Trial version.

Continue as described in chapter Log-on information (Initial Log-on) from process step “Select Master Data
Governance, cloud edition - Trial Version” onwards.

I have set up my trial account before February 23, 2021 and cannot find the SAP Master Data Governance,
cloud edition trial version in my subaccount.
If you have created your subaccount before February 23, 2021, it is not automatically entitled. Go to Entitlements
and assign an entitlement for SAP Master Data Governance, cloud edition to your sub-account as described in
the issue above.

Reporting Issues
If you experience issues with the log-on, you can click the Support button.
You can then describe the issue by asking a question in the SAP Community.

Public
 Enter a Question title, the description, select the SAP-managed tag SAP Master Data Governance and add the
user tag cloudtrial. Submit your question.
