Introduction

This document describes how to use ASIO Link Pro with Jamulus to do the
following:

- play with a backing track or click track

- record your Jamulus session

- feed Jamulus audio into Zoom, and Zoom audio into Jamulus

About ASIO Link Pro

ASIO Link Pro was developed by John Shield of Perth, Australia. The product
was sold by John's company O Deus Audio and retailed for about 40 USD.
The latest version 1.6 was released in 2016.

Unfortunately, John died in 2017 and product licences became unavailable.

An organisation called Give Academy obtained the source code from John's
nephew and developed a patcher program which effectively licences ASIO
Link Pro and allows it to run as freeware.

Install and Configure ASIO Link Pro

Download the installer and the patcher from here:

https://give.academy/downloads/2018/03/03/ODeusASIOLinkPro

You want these 2 files:

asiolinkpro.exe
AsioLinkProToolPatcher.zip

(1) Run asiolinkpro.exe to install ASIO Link Pro (ignore the option to
install 16 WDM devices)

(2) Unzip AsioLinkProToolPatcher.zip and run ASIO Link Pro

Patcher.exe to patch the executable. This effectively registers the
product.
Start the Jamulus client and open up Settings.

Select ASIO Link Pro as the Device

In ASIO Link Pro, select the driver for your interface

Connect to a Jamulus server.

Wire up the connections in ASIO Link Pro as shown in the following

ASIO DRIVER OUT MIX 1&2 --> ASIOVADPRO MIX OUT 01 1&2

ASIO HOST IN MIX 1&2 --> ASIOVADPRO MIX OUT 02 1&2

You can save these settings in an ASIO Link Pro profile.

When you speak or play into the interface, you will see green on ASIO HOST
IN MIX (input from interface) and ASIO DRIVER OUT MIX (the return mix
from Jamulus).

You can hide the ASIO Link Pro window by clicking the Icon in the System
Tray.

Backing Track
To play a backing track into Jamulus you just need to set ASIOVADPRO
Speakers 01 as the output device – either as the default in Windows or in the
music player app you are using.
Recording
To record Jamulus using Audacity, set the recording device to ASIOVADPRO
01 (full mix) or ASIOVADPRO 02 (just your input audio). Remember the full
mix will what you set up on your own mixer.

You can also use ASIO Link Pro to record the output to a FLAC file.

Jamulus and Zoom

For this, it is best to have Zoom and Jamulus running on a dedicated PC and
only use it for Zoom – not Jamulus playing, recording or backing tracks.
There should be nothing plugged into the interface except headphones. (You
can use no interface and ASIO4ALL as the driver)

Configure Jamulus as before.

Join the Zoom meeting with audio off.

Connect to the Jamulus server. You should be able to hear the other Jamulus
musicians and ASIO DRIVER OUT MIX will be green.

In Zoom, set Speaker to Speakers 01 and Microphone to Mix 01. Turn audio
on and unmute. Audio from Zoom will make SPEAKERS IN go green. You can
adjust the volume as required.

All Zoom audio is routed into Jamulus. Zoom host and users are responsible
for muting themselves. Audio from Jamulus is fed into Zoom, you can mute if
required.
