Field Study 1 Episode 4
Field Study 1 Episode 4
The physical development of the learner is normal for his age. The child is healthy; he has no ailments or
any serious health problems. Certain foods cause him to have an allergic reaction, but he has learnt to
avoid certain meals.
Social Development
The learner is outgoing and kind. Even though he has only met for a short time, he makes it simple to
establish friends. He has many friends inside and outside of school,
Emotional-Moral Development
When the learner feels upset or worried about anything, he confides in his guardians. The learner
occasionally cries easily and loses his temper but is generally happy and enthusiastic.
Cognitive Development
Academic paths are more likely to pique the learner’s attention than athletics. He enjoys reading books,
singing and dancing, and watching movies. Science and English are his favorite subjects.
Findings
My findings from my interview with the child’s guardian led me to believe that the child was well-cared
for by his family, allowing him to build a good physical, social, emotional and cognitive development.
The student is in good physical and emotional shape since his guardians are highly supportive of him.
Because of his affable demeanor, he readily makes friends. He’s a bit chatty and curious about
everything, and he occasionally asks complicated questions.
Conclusion
I conclude that learners’ cognitive, emotional, psychomotor, and total personality development is
influenced by both school and family. The education of a child begins at home. The learner is
indoctrinated with values, a pleasant attitude, and discipline. School, on the other hand, is critical in a
learner’s development since it is meant to assist learners in developing their physical, social, emotional,
moral, and cognitive capacities.
Recommendations
It is the responsibility of parents to educate and discipline their children. They must be truthful with their
child. They should inquire about their academics and habits and be encouraged to focus and study
diligently in order to succeed in life. Teachers can use technology to boost the amount of learning they
impart to their students in order to provide a high-quality education.
Analyze
1. From your home visit and interview, what do you think is the style of parenting experienced by
the learner? Explain your answer.
Since both his parents passed away when he was young, he was taken into the custody of his
relatives. The learner is experiencing an authoritative type of parenting style. His guardians are kind of
firm, but they’re loving. The rules are not so firm because they know that if they are strict with the child,
there’s a possibility that the child will turn against them. The use of non-physical punishment but of
reasoning in disciplining them is also a characteristic of this parenting style. The imposition of study
rules at home and relying on the child’s value of education are very helpful, as is stressing self-reliance
and independence on the part of the learner. Warmth and nurturing are exhibited by his guardians.
2. Relating your data with what you learned from child development, what family factors do you
think contribute to the development and over-all adjustment of the learner in school?
Relating to what I learned from child development, family is one of the main factors that will
contribute to the development and overall adjustment of the learner. If a child’s family is supportive of
his/ her education, then the child will be socially competent, self-reliant, and have a greater ability to
show self-control because he/ she knows that, in times when he/ she has problems, he/ she has a family
who can help him/ her in his/ her adjustment and development in school.
3. Does the communication between the home-school have an effect on the learner? If yes, what are
these effects?
Positive and open communication between home and school helps provide students with the best
chance to succeed. It is important for parents and schools to work together so that expectations are
consistent, and children are aware of appropriate and inappropriate behavior and the relevant associated
disciplinary consequences.
4. How can the teacher partner with the community to contribute to the development and learning of
the student? Who are the people or which institutions can the teacher tap to seek advice regarding
the development and learning of students.
Through collaboration, the teacher and community can help the students’ learning progress if
they first build strong relationships with one another. Collaboration between home and school is a
process that drives the establishment of goals and plans. Education becomes a shared responsibility
when cooperation is defined by open communication, mutually agreed-upon goals, and collective
decision-making. In developing intervention programs and incorporating their knowledge into the
curriculum, teachers may work with the parents of the students as well as local organizations in the
community. Additionally, the instructor could advise the parents to create the ideal learning environment
in their home and look for possibilities for instructors to make house visits.
Reflect
1. Reflect on your own development as a child. What type of parenting did you experience? How did
it affect you?
If I am going to reflect on my own development as a child, I experienced authoritarian parenting.
My parents are adamant that I always follow their rules and conditions. If I do something wrong, they
immediately scold me, and if I break one of the rules, they punish me not just emotionally but also
physically. There is also a withdrawal of affection if I do something wrong. They have high expectations
of me, so there are times that I tell myself that I must prove my worth. Sometimes they’re caring and
loving. The effects of authoritarian parenting on me are that I became unhappy with my life; sometimes
I have problems or difficulty dealing with peers; and sometimes I’m afraid to commit mistakes or not be
successful in something because it makes me look down on myself.
2. As a future teacher, how would you establish good-home school collaboration? How can you
work well with the parents? How can you help them? How can they help you?
Home-school collaboration is an important step in supporting a child’s positive engagement in
the learning and social aspects of school life. Parents and schools have a common goal: to see children
develop the skills for life and learning, to see children succeed, and to see children happy. The goal of
enhancing children’s competence, participation, and positive learning and social behaviors cannot be
achieved by teachers alone and requires active partnerships with families. As a future teacher, I would
establish good home-school collaboration by finding opportunities for students and/or families to share
knowledge and skills gained through home and family experiences and by using students’ home
experiences to devise meaningful and relevant learning activities.
