V. Concept:
You are tasked to take on the role of a Vlogger- someone who makes short
videos containing one’ s thoughts, ideas and opinions on a subject (Cambridge
dictionary). But, in the sea of already seen Vlogging contents, your contribution will be
your educated thoughts on major social realities in the Philippine society. You are
expected to interpret a social reality of your choice, by using three social science
disciplines as your lenses in providing insights and interpretations. In the end, your
content is aimed towards educating the Filipino netizens on the use of social science
perspectives in better understanding of the Philippine society.
VI. Activity

Activity 1: Choosing a Social Reality

This activity is designed to introduce the general concept of your major


performance task for the first quarter of the first semester. You may access a video clip
in the link provided below for a short introduction.

Activity 2: Choosing your Social Reality

Your social reality is the focus of your reaction and discussion. That is to say, the
first step to completing your major performance task is to choose a social reality in
which the Filipino people will be able to relate.

A. What is your main interest?


Think of any social issue that you want to understand for yourself and explain to
others. (example: What is the main reason why street dwellers doubled in number
along Tayuman St., Sta. Cruz, Manila?)

Provide the basic information about your chosen social issue. (example: I have
observed that since the establishment of KaLiNGa, there has been an exodus of
street dwellers around Manila, going to Sta. Cruz area)

Activity 3: Written Output (Draft)

You are tasked to write the general discussion of your chosen social reality. Use
your output from activity 2 and explain the social issue from three different perspectives
of your choice. Make sure to use concepts from your chosen social science disciplines
and embed them in your discussion of the issue.
Make sure that your written output is constructed in 3 paragraphs.
1st paragraph- contains your chosen social reality.
- provide basic or background information about it.
- state your reasons why you chose it over other social realities.

2nd paragraph- from your personal experience, share what you already know about the
social reality. This means that you have to start by stating your own
knowledge of the issue, even before you decided to choose it as the topic
of your major performance task.

3rd paragraph- start your discussion. Make sure to explain the social reality from the
individual perspectives of your chosen social science disciplines.

Activity 4: Filming your Reaction Video

Upon the approval of the draft of your written discussion, you are now ready to
film your reaction. Please be guided by the following:

1. You may use a smart phone, camera and other filming devices.
2. Make sure that your camera is positioned from a good lighting so that your facial
expressions will be seen clearly while you are talking.
3. Please make sure that your audio can be heard clearly so as to avoid any distortion of
the meanings behind your discussion.
4. You may have your recording using the Filipino or English language. Just make sure that
the language of your choice is the same language that you used in your written output.
5. Limit your reaction video to at most, 3 minutes. This is to make sure that everything you
say is important and to avoid big memory issues when you submit your final output.

VII. Evaluation
In the end, you are expected to produce a written output and video recording
of your chosen social reality. Kindly refer to the attached document for the GRASPS
and rubric to be used in grading.
