LAB REPORT 12

LAB REPORT 12
Objective:
Overview of basic steps of modeling and to practice basic sketch commands (Lines, Circle, arcs,
ellipse, polygon, slot and Rectangle commands) extensively and to practice a 2D sketch drawing
(Sketch Drawing-01)

Theory:
Line command:

To start the drawing sketches with Line command, click on the Sketch button as shown by red
arrow above in Solid works.

Select a plane to sketch in Solid works.

After the entering to the sketching mode, select a plane to create sketch in Solid works.
Click on Line command in Sketch tab.
In “as sketched” mode, you can create your line freely on drawing scheme of Solid works.

Also;
Horizontal: If you select this option, the lines will be crated as horizontal automatically in Solid
works.
Vertical: If you select this option, the lines will be crated as vertical automatically in Solid
works.
Angle: If you select Angle option in Line command, you will enter a length and angle value to
create standard lines at every click on the workspace in Solid works as above.

Construction lines in Line command.

If you select For Construction as shown by red box above in Line options, created lines will be
like above as shown by red arrow.
Infinite line in Line command of Solid works.
As you can see above, you can create Infinite lines if you select it as shown by red box above in
Solid works.
Midpoint line in Line command.
If you select Midpoint line as shown by red box above, you can create lines starting from their
mid-point, not start point in Solid works.
Also, you can select multiple of line options such as For Solid works in Line command.
Sketching lines in Solid works is simply like that. Knowing the whole features of even basic
commands like Line is very important at advanced levels of design in Solid works.
Sketch entities
Sketch entities provide the ability to create lines, rectangles, parallelograms, circles, etc. during
the sketching process. To access the available sketch entities for SolidWorks, click Tools 

5. You can Edit the line using selections from the groups in the Line Properties Property
Manager. If you create a line using Angle as the Orientation, and you set a value for
Angle , you can edit the angle under the following conditions:

 The line must be referenced in an angular dimension.

 The other line in the dimension must be a horizontal construction line.
 The change must occur within the current Line Properties Property Manager session.
 Continue sketching using the selected Orientation.
 Click or double-click to return to the Insert Line Property Manager to select a
different Orientation or Parameters.
