Trip To Ireland
On April 2nd my class and I took flight at 7:05am and landed at 9:30am in Ireland,
where we stayed until the 5th at the Harcourt Hotel in Dublin.
After we settled in we went on a walk to St. Stephen’s Green. There we had lunch
while we “played” with some ducks and a swan. Then, when we were all done eating, the
theacher took us to Grafton Street, the most famous street in Dublin. Afterwards, we went to
Temple Bar, where Riquelme and I had dinner.
During the next day we visited Dublinia, which is a museum about the presence of
Vikings in Ireland. This was definitely my favourite part of the trip, I loved every single
minute I was there. Later that day we visited the Famine Memorial, these statues
commemorate the Great Famine of the mid 19th century. During the famine approximately 1
million people died. We also visited the Epic Museum, this was a museum about the history
of Irish emigration and it was very boring, in my opinion. After visiting these places we had
a lot of free time to visit and do “anything” we wanted to.
In the morning of the 4th we went to Trinity College to visit the Book of Kells that is a
manuscript made by celtic monks around the year 800 AD and The Long Room, which is the
main chamber of the Old Library. After lunch we went to the National Gallery of Dublin, a
museum where we can see the national collection of Irish and European art. After that we
went to Merrion Square and Oscar Wilde Memorial that is a collection of three statues in
Merrion Square in Dublin, Ireland, commemorating Irish poet and playwright Oscar Wilde.
Right next to this Memorial there was a playground where we played for sometime and
where a friend of mine lost his wallet (it was such a mood killer).
5th April, the last day... We had to wake up really early in the morning to visit The
Microsft Garage where Microsoft delivers programs and experiences to their employees,
customers, and partners that drive collaboration, creativity, and experimentation.
At 7:30pm we took flight back to Lisbon and trip was over... it had to be one of the
worst feelings I’ve ever felt with anything school related.
After this trip I can’t deny that Dublin is such an incredible and beautiful city where
almost everyone is very nice and funny and I hope that one day I can comeback there with
my parents to show them how good it was the experience they gave me.
To conclude I have to say that I loved the trip and it will remain for ever in my heart as
it was the first time I traveled outside the country with friends and during those 4 days I
spent there I got to do and see things I never expected to.
