Job Description of Mechanical Engineer
JOB TITLE MECHANICAL ENGINEER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Evaluates and recommends pre engineering and engineering concepts, designs and development for mechanical systems and plants associated with the Company's oil and gas production, pressure maintenance, transport and export. Provides technical expertise/service to the Project in all Mechanical Engineering areas during Conceptual Design, Front End Engineering Design and Detailed Design in EPIC Execution stage, ensuring that the designs are optimal, safe, cost effective and in compliance with the latest Codes, Standards, and Company Specifications. Prepares all projects requirements for preliminary study, Design Basis, FEED studies, scope of work, & mechanical sections of ITT (Invitation to tender) package. Reviews tenders for mechanical engineering designs and specifications submitted by consultants / contractors. Recommends selection of mechanical systems / equipment including investigation of vendors and participating in related tender preparation and bid analysis, as required. Provide, extensively, technical review and comment to the mechanical and rotating equipment engineering and procurement engineering deliverables by vendor/ consultant/ contractor. Participates to technical meetings, challenge the EPC Contractor, monitor and promote cost saving solutions in the design. Participates in conceptual, basic and detailed mechanical engineering designs and specifications for projects related to modifications, improvements and replacement of mechanical systems. Avoid EPC contractor stand-by/delays by prompt response to technical clarifications and technical deviations and unexpected technical issues, by a proactive and proficient approach. Verifying and checking vendor/ consultant/ contractor calculations, designs, and specifications from concept to detailed designs of all relevant static & rotating equipments. Participates in value engineering studies, detailed technical evaluation, 3D-Model reviews, safety and HAZOP reviews of various plant areas or equipment. Proposes recommendations for improvements / upgrading. Provides technical support to operation and maintenance teams in identifying and rectifying problems related to mechanical systems and equipments. Evaluates plant modification requests (PMR) involving a wide variety of mechanical elements or problems and recommends appropriate solutions / acceptance or rejection of proposed changes. Knows the Company health, safety and environmental policy, procedures, regulations and objectives and ensures that they are effectively implemented in his domain. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education Graduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline from a recognized University. Experience Minimum of 12 years experience in design and development of projects related to oil and gas industry. Skills Excellent communication and written skills in English. Arabic language is an asset. In-depth knowledge of international and industry standards (ISO, ASME, ANSI, API, EN, etc.) Computer Skill: Familiar with Microsoft Office software and sufficient for the execution of discipline engineering activities. Knowledge of PVLITE is a plus.
