1. What are the three Renaissance Period? Describe each.

The three renaissance period are the following;

a. The early renaissance;

b. The high renaissance; and,

c. The late renaissance.

a. The early renaissance refers to the year 1400 to 1495 CE. Europe. It focuses on
the significant art creation especially the humanism founded by Dante. Petrarch
and Boccaccio were the two well-known geniuses among early Renaissance
humanists. Humanists advocated the study of the language arts, moral
philosophy, and history. Artist during this period believes that art should not be
static and therefore open for change. Frequent subjects of art include everyday
life and depiction of realistic painting.

b. The high renaissance lasted only for a short span of time. It started in the year
1495 to 1520. Although it was just a short period, it is very important as it paves
the way on how art evolves. It aimed to achieve perfect harmony and balance, in
all aspects. One of the subjects of this period is the perfection of the human
body, nudity, and facial expression. The art shifts from religious themes to
philosophy and mathematics focusing on the philosophy of humanism.

c. The Late Renaissance(1525 to 1600) – At the end of the high renaissance,


marks the new style of art that spreads all over Europe. Mannerism became the
popular style. Mannerism is the bridge between the high renaissance and the
baroque period. It was said to be the reaction to the harmony, order and
perfection of the art of the fifteenth century and the beginning of the sixteenth
century.

2. What is Renaissance Period known for?

The Renaissance was a period of "rebirth" in terms of artistic development in the fields
of arts and sciences. Significantly, renaissance period led to major shifts in terms of
worldview, art, and sciences. Renaissance is also known for the movements such as
mannerism, humanism and realism. It also the period of rediscovery of ancient Greeks
and roman text as well as philosophy, literature and arts.

2. What are 5 facts about Renaissance Period?


Fact#1 Francis I, King of France, was patron of the arts and helped Renaissance
art spread from Italy to France
Fact #2 One of the most popular Greek philosophers was Plato.
Fact#3 Venice was famous for its glasswork, while Milan was famous for its iron
smiths.
Facts #4 Artists were initially thought of as craftsmen.
Facts #5 Vitruvian man was created during renaissance period.

4. What are the main features of the Renaissance Period?

The features of the renaissance period include humanism, realism, mannerism and the
rediscovery of philosophy art, and mathematics. Petrarch was the father of humanism
who leads the movement within the Italian cities during the late thirteenth and early
fourteenth centuries. Humanism dipics the perfection and harmony of art like perfect
measurements of the human body. It emphasizes on the accuracy like the Vitruvian
man of da Vinci. Realism is the depiction that emphasizes of everyday life in sculptures
or statues. Arts during those periods give emphasis on reality rather than perfection.
Mannerism on the other hand is the reaction to perfect harmony art depicted by high
renaissance. Moreover, rethe naissance period marks the beginning of the development
and improvement in terms of agriculture economy and rise of national languages like
English and French. It also paves the way on the drastic change of the expansion of art
not only in Italy but around the world as it opens the medium such as the blackletter
typography, as well as art styles to the many.

5. What were the effects of the Renaissance Period?

The effects of the renaissance are very obvious in terms of art, sciences as well
literature. The renaissance period greatly affects the perception of arts in different styles
from this period such as realism, humanism, and mannerism. In terms of accuracy and
perfection, the renaissance gives us a hint of crafting art with realistic facial expressions
and harmony or unity of the art. We can also see how the document printing press
creates a vast effect on the mass production of documents as well as its efficiency in
keeping records. On the other hand, we can also see the effects of modern literature
that come from the rebirth that happens during the renaissance. A writer such as
Shakespeare is one of the important literary authors that still has positive effects and
impact up to the present.

6. What are the contribution of Shakespeare to the Renaissance Period?

 Based on my research, Shakespeare was known for his sonnets and plays like
"Romeo and Juliet," he is regarded as England's "national poet" and the greatest
playwright of all time.
 Shakespeare has also a wide knowledge of classics of Italian and Greek that
depict other cultures in his works that attracted many audiences may it be foreign
or European.
 Between the 17th and 18th centuries, Shakespeare contributed to the
standardization of the English language.

 -Shakespeare also contributed to thousands of word from his works thus give
way to new linguistic developments
