III. PROCEDURES
A.Reviewing previous lesson A) Drill
(Constructivism) Conduct a drill on basic division facts using flashcards.
B) Review
Give the fractional parts that are shaded. (TG p.180)
B.Establishing a purpose for the lesson Motivation:
(Integrative Approach) Ask the pupils about the following:
a) Favorite color of a cake; design of a cake; flavor of a cake
b) The parts of the cake they consumed
c) Let the pupils explain, why these are their favorites?
C. Presenting examples/ instances of the Problem:
new lesson Mrs. Paglinawan went to a nearby bakery. She bought a birthday cake with chocolate flavor,
for her 9year old daughter. When she reached home, she divided the cake into 10 equal parts.
If the children shared 0.8 part from the cake, what fractional part of the cake was shared by the
children?
D.Discussing new concepts and Questions:
practicing new skills #1 a) What trait did Mrs. Paglinawan show? Emphasize the situation that shows sharing
(Collaborative Approach) of blessings to other people and being accurate in doing anything.
b) How will you answer the question in the problem?
E. Discussing new concepts and Solving the problem:
practicing new skills #2 Ask the pupils to write in fraction form the parts of the cake the children shared.
Solution 1: By Using Regions
0.8 = 8/10

B. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation who scored below 80%.
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who have caught up with the lesson.
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategiesworked well? Why did this work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I use/discover which I wish to share with
other teachers?
B) Review
Write the following decimal number in fraction form:
1)0.9 2) 0.09 3) 0.19 4) 0.24 5) 0.2
B.Establishing a purpose for the lesson Motivation:
(Integrative Approach) How will you show kindeness to others? Elicit from them that being kind to others is important.
Emphasize that kindness, be it simple or complicated, originate from the same humble intention
of helping others. Just like in Mathematics, numbers may come in other forms, like fractions
and decimals but they mean the same.
C. Presenting examples/ instances of the Present the chart below:
new lesson Let the pupils study the illustration below and lead them to find out how fractions and
decimals mean the same number:
Ask: What is the equivalent of 3/10 in decimal form? How do you rename 3/10 to decimal?
3
=3 tenths=0.3
10
Let the pupils consider the number of zeros in the denominator. This tells them the number of
digits after the decimal point. In which case 3/10 can be written as 0.3.

1)0.3 2) 0.8 3) 0.25 4) 0.36 5) 0.15
B.Establishing a purpose for the lesson Motivation:
(Integrative Approach) What is decimal number? How can you give the place value and value of decimal number?
C. Presenting examples/ instances of the Present the chart to the class:
new lesson Ones Decimal Point Tenths Hundredths
1 2 3
1 is in the ones place and the value is 1
2 is in the tenths place and the value is 2 tenths or can be written as 0.2
3 is in the hundredths place and the value is 3 hundredths or can be written as 0.03
D.Discussing new concepts and Study the numeral 0.65 and answer the following questions:
practicing new skills #1 1. What is the position of zero? When do you use zero?
(Collaborative Approach) 2. What digit is immediately after the decimal point? What is its value?
3. What digit is in the hundredths place? What is its value?
E. Discussing new concepts and Using the decimal 0.25, answer the following questions:
practicing new skills #2 1. What digit is in the tenths place? What is its value?
2. What digit is in the hundredths place? What is its value?
3. What digit is in the ones place? What is its value?
F. Developing Mastery Give the place value and the value of 5.
1) 0.56 2) 0.65 3) 0.75 4) 0.85 5) 0.59
G. Finding practical applications of Answer this problem:
concepts and skills in daily living Rodel harvested some vegetables from the garden. The squash weighed 0.95 kilogram.
What is the place value of 9 in 0.95? What is the value of 5?
H. Making Generalization What are the place value and the value of the digits after the decimal point?
- In a decimal, the place value of the first digit after the decimal point is tenths and its
value is 0.1. The next digit is hundredths and the value is 0.01.
I. Evaluating of Learning Give the place value and the value of the underlined digit:
1) 0.45 2) 1.15 3) 6.92 4) 3.06 5) 5.08

Eight tenths is written as 0.8. It is written one decimal place after the decimal point.
Three hundredths is written as 0.03. It is written two decimal places after the decimal
point. The zero (0) as a placeholder takes the place of the tenths since the decimal
number has no tenths.
E. Discussing new concepts and Read the following decimal numbers:
practicing new skills #2 1)0.7 2) 0.29 3) 0.18 4) 0.38 5) 0.01

2) Seven tenths- ______
3) Two hundredths- ______
4) Thirty-five hundredths- ______
5) Fifty-two hundredths- ______
G. Finding practical applications of Solve this problem:
concepts and skills in daily living A patola measures 28/100 meter while a whole ampalaya measures 25/100 meter. Which is
longer? Write your answer in decimal form and write it in words.
H. Making Generalization How do we read and write decimal numbers?
- To read the decimal number, read the digits after the decimal point. Read the place
value of the last digit. If there are digits starting from 1 and up in whole number part,
read the decimal point as “and” and read the number starting from the highest whole
number follow by the decimal numbers.
Example: 2.45, this can ce read or write as two and forty-five hundredths.
- Zero is placed to any empty column between the decimal point and the digits.
Example: 0.86 or .86 are both correct.
I. Evaluating of Learning Write the following in decimal form.
1) Two and three hundredths- _________________
2) Sixty-five and sixty-five hundredths _________________
