01 Laboratory Exercise 1 - ARG

The document summarizes a laboratory exercise involving a Samsung Galaxy A03s device running Android 12. It describes the device's 4GB RAM, octa-core processor, and 6.5-inch 720x1600 display. The exercise questions cover the device's performance, how the operating system affects performance, popular apps that impact speed, the relationship between processor and display quality, and whether to upgrade RAM, processor, or operating system first.

Laboratory Exercise

Device Brand/Model: Samsung Galaxy A03s

Operating System (0S): Android OS
OS Version/Build: 12
Size of the RAM: 4GB RAM
Processor: octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 (MT6765)
Display Quality: 6.50" PLS LCD, 720x1600px resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, 270ppi

a. Describe the performance of your device.

-The performance of my device at the moment is kind of laggy because of storage
insufficiency, but when playing games or using Facebook it’s not that lag. It also has a
good quality of camera.
b. In your opinion, does the operating system affect the overall performance of your
device? Why or why not?
- Yes, a good OS is crucial for a device because it determines how well the system will
function. The operating system (OS) of your gadget is akin to its soul.

You may have noticed that some businesses, like Redmi, have made their
operating systems configurable. While this may initially, please customers, it will
ultimately slow down your handset. User-based customization is the key factor affecting
device processors.
c. Give five (5) installed applications that greatly affect the processing speed or
performance of your device.
-Mobile Legends (ML)
-Facebook
-YouTube
-Netflix
-TikTok
d. In your perspective, is there a possible relationship between the processor and the
display quality of your device? Rationalize your answer.
- No. The processor has no impact on display output as this is entirely handled by the
display controller of your integrated or dedicated GPU.
e. Operating System, RAM, or Processor. Which among the three would you upgrade
first and why?
- The most likely improvement to make is to the RAM. Keep in mind that your CPU
can probably be overclocked to 2.0GHz or so. My friend's overclocked AMD system
is much older than yours, and he claims it makes a difference. Purchase RAM instead
of trying to increase the RAM space on your own.

3. Search for another example of an operating system (aside from the operating systems that are
already included in the handout) and examine its architecture and specifications. Then, answer
the following items:
What is the name of the operating system?
-Apple IOS

What is the latest version of the operating system?

- iOS 16 - Apple (PH)

Who developed the operating system?

- Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs

Describe the internal architecture of the operating system.

- Architecture of IOS is a layered architecture. At the uppermost level iOS works as an
intermediary between the underlying hardware and the apps you make. Apps do not
communicate to the underlying hardware directly. Apps talk with the hardware through a
collection of well-defined system interfaces.
What makes the operating system unique? Rationalize your answer.
- OS is a closed system whereas Android is more open. Users have barely any system
permissions in iOS but in Android, users can customize their phones easily. Android software is
available for many manufacturers such as Samsung, LG etc
