Why I want to go to college

Attending college is one of the most significant achievements that can boost individuals’

lives. A college education is crucial to a person since it allows one to take different life directions

and approaches to their lives. It is in college that one can become independent, assume different

responsibilities and learn to live with others. An individual acquires self-confidence due to

interactions with other students and individuals in the school. Individuals with a college

education are likely to have better life goals and ability to achieve them. One gains economic

security, thus making them a great asset in the world. Attending college exposes an individual to

new knowledge and skills which positively impact their career development, improving their

welfare and that of others around them.

A college education is essential to a person for different reasons. In my case, the

education will help me inspire my family and be an example to my younger family members

who are yet to reach the college level. Young individuals shape their lives according to the

different lives of individuals and role models around them (Ma et al.). Going to college is one of

the many achievement numerous young individuals admire to make. The college life is attributed

to a better and free way of living compared to the lower levels of education, an aspect that can

influence my siblings to admire such a life. Therefore, attending college will influence my

siblings to put efforts into their education to reach or surpass my education level.

Attending college will also make my parents proud and enable me to reward them for

their sacrifice towards my education. Parents support their children to make them successful in

their lives and also hope to acquire direct or indirect benefits from their children's success (Ma et

al.). My parents have supported throughout my life by offering financial support towards my

education, sacrificing finances they may have used elsewhere. They also sacrificed their time

waking up early to prepare me and take me to school. The parents have also offered me

emotional support and other support aiming at encouraging me to embrace education. Thus I

must go to college to make them proud and reward them for their support and sacrifice by

making their lives better.

Lastly, attending college will enable me to acquire better education, skills and knowledge

necessary to better my life. Although a college education is not enough, it is necessary as an

eligibility touchstone in many sectors (Webber and Douglas). The education will render me

competitive, qualifying me to vast job opportunities making me earn more and get a better life.

The skills and knowledge will enable me to find myself since I will gain high levels of

responsibility and independence due to exposure to a life with no massive supervision compared

to lower education levels. My communication skills will also be strengthened due to broad

interactions with diverse individuals in schools and companies. The communication skills will

boost my confidence and enable me to reveal my actual but beneficial life characteristics,

making me a competitive version of myself. Therefore, a college education will impact my

career growth and help me apply the skills to benefit myself and others.

In conclusion, attending college exposes someone to new ideas enhancing their career

development and competencies, thus impacting their lives and that of others. A college education

will help me inspire my siblings to be determined to take my educational path. It will also make

my parents proud and allow me to reward them for their sacrifice. The skills and knowledge I

will gain will promote my career development. Therefore I need to attend college.
