1 Introduction
These directives are intended to give some understanding on the way
Huisman Equipment B.V. is indentifying electrical locations, components and drawings and how to find
your way in the available information.
It is strongly recommended to read these directives prior to study and consult the drawings and
diagrams.

• How to find your way
2 Coding:
The purpose of electrical coding is to identify each and every document, part, component, terminal,
cable and wire of an electrical installation with a unique code.

+ A 12 - 1 00 A 1 00 -A 10
The symbol codes can be found on or near the component itself as well as in the electrical drawings
and schematics.
Due to lack of space, the location code is often not stated on the component. In a cabinet where every
thing in and on this cabinet has he same location code as the cabinet itself, the components are
tagged with the symbol code without the location code. On drawings and schematics, the location
code is integrated in the title block. The components on the schematics are tagged without the location
code.
Example:
1) +A20-132B46
This is the 6th pressure (4) transducer (B) in the installation. It is used for system 132 and is physically
placed in location A20.
2) +L00-E41
This is a not specifically defined (“various”) component (E) positioned in location +L00.
The numbering for external cabinet to cabinet cabling is composed by the following parts:
Location Code start of cable
Marker
A 12 / B 13 / 1 1
Example:
A10/A11/02
This is the second cable connecting a cabinet at location +A10 with a cabinet at location +A11
Sequence number
(Additional)
- 1 00 A 1 00/ 0
Example:
1M1/1
Sequence number
A 1 00/B 1 00/0
Page number
Column number
Sequence number
103 9 6
The voltage level indication is equal to the voltage level indication a cables codes.
Typical:
Every voltage block shall start with terminal number 1 and increase up to the required number of
terminals.
Examples:
Panel Section 1
Main Supply
400 – 690 Vac
1 X1
Panel Section 2
Control Supply
24 Vdc
2 X3
Blue = be
Black = bk
Brown = bn
Gold = gd
Green = gn
Grey = gy
Orange = oe
Pink = pk
Red = rd
Silver = sr
Turquoise = te
Violet = vt
White = we
Yellow = yw
3 Drawings:
The purpose of coding is the achievement of uniform drawing packages for electrical installations
within the Huisman Equipment B.V.
Each and every drawing set for electrical installations shall as a minimum consist of, but will not be
limited to the following drawings.
Panel/Cabinet layout
Single line diagrams
Schematics
Main power for various voltages
Control circuits for various voltages
ESD circuits
PLC’s and interfaces
Computers and interfaces
Material lists
Terminal connection diagrams
The drawings shall be grouped in one or more binders depending on the project size.
The binders shall be divided by tabs in accordance with the standard drawings general part and for the
dedicated parts per cabinet/panel.
3.3 Drawings
Each and every drawing in a Huisman Equipment B.V. drawing package has the same layout,
including:
1 Header
Vertically the drawing has been divided into 10 columns, numbered from 0 to 9. The header
on top of the page indicates the column numbers. Every column has a unique number within
the location, containing the page number followed by the actual column number.
The number 124 would indicate column 4 of page 12.
2 Drawing window
The middle part the page contains the actual drawing.
3 Title block
The title block is showing all relevant information for the identification of the drawing.
Furthermore has every page at the right hand side 13 markers on discriminating heights.
These markers shall be used in the drawings as a level for drawing similar components, parts, cable
information, texts, etc.
In different kind of electrical drawing the same markers will be used for different types of components.
Within Huisman Equipment B.V. standard names and standard abbreviations shall be used in the
following categories:
Distribution
Cables
Components
For Info:
Drawings distributed for information only, no rights can be obtained from these drawings.
For Production:
Drawings approved by the design engineer and distributed to the cabinet/panel builder for assembly.
For Installation:
Drawings approved by the design engineer and distributed to the construction contractor for final
installation/construction work on the yard, this status shall include all revisions made by the
cabinet/panel builder
As-Built:
Up dated drawings made in accordance with the actual situation after installation/construction,
commissioning and start up.
Electrical Diagram
1 S21-071M1
An electromotor located at a location other than the current location, therefore the location code
is included on the drawing
2 S31/S21/01
The cable connecting the motor to a cabinet.
3 –X1
Terminal block +S31-X1 to which the cable is connected.
The numbers 1, 2 and 3 indicate the clamp numbers to which the cable in connected (The
complete terminal block is drawn at the end of the +S31 section).
The numbers 101, 103 and 105 are the wire numbers inside this cabinet.
4 -071K1
Contactor that switches the motor. The motor is wired to contact 2, 4, and 6. The number 23 at
the bottom right of the component code indicates the column where the component (in this case
the coil of the contactor) is drawn again. Additional info on the contactor is found in the materials
list.
5 071T1
Current transmitter. The transmitter connections are found at column 72
6 –071F1
Circuit breaker of the motor. Additional info on the breaker is found in the materials list.
1L1 /+S32/10 reference for destination of cable. 1L1 is a unique name for the wire, /+S32/10 is
the destination drawing/column.
The drawings contain al lot of information about the electrical installation. In order to find relevant
information quickly, the following examples show the search path of some typical problems.
The cable index shows the start and destination of the cable. Also the first
occurrence of the cable in the drawings is stated in the Pos. column (The cable
type, size and number of wires could also be retrieved from the cable index at this
point).
Step 4 Read the information
Locate the page and column, stated in the Pos. field in the binder(s).
The wire can be contacted to one or more components. All components can be
checked on a missing wire using the drawing.
If a component was completely unwired, more than one drawing might be needed.
If a component has no bottom right reference to other drawings, this indicates that
this drawing is the source page for this component. Below the component a list of
contacts is drawn:
This list shows all contacts and associated columns. Contacts 1 and 2 are located
at column 11, and so on.
