Welcome Letter
Exactly 20 years ago, in 2002, the IOSTE International Symposium was held an intensification of political and environmental activism, and agendas
for the first time in Latin America, and also for the first time in Brazil, themed aimed at equity gained strength in discussions held around the world. In the

• Those who are presenting in person have to upload their presentation to the computer in the room where the session is taking place, at least 10 minutes
prior to the beginning of the session
• Remote presentations will be done live. Remote participant will have to share their screen while talking, if necessary.
• The session chair indicated in the program will introduce speakers, keep time, and manage question periods.
• Paper presentation will follow the structure: 15-minute presentation + 5 minutes to questions
• If a speaker does not show up at the appropriate time to present, they forfeit that time slot. It is important to leave that space open. Discussion of the
previous paper can continue, or the group may take a break, but the intended schedule must be adhered to out of fairness to those who may wish to
view a particular presentation that is scheduled at a particular time.
• The Zoom call will be started by conference technical personal. The technical person and the chair will make sure that the “screen share” function is
activated so that remote participants will be able to view each presentation.
• Presenters and in-person audience who wish to make questions MUST use a microphone during their presentation for remote participants to hear.
• Questions from remote participants should be done by opening the microphone when allowed and speaking instead of using chat or Q&A box.

• For those attending in person, there will be dedicated time in the conference program for the presentation on July 28th.
• For those attending remotely, virtual presentation will use the PADLET application in asynchronous way.
• All poster presenters (both in-person and virtually attendees) will have to send their virtual posters to be set up in the virtual platform by the organizing
committee. We highlight that even sending a virtual poster, in-person presenters have to present their printed poster in the poster session at the
conference on July 28th, following the conference schedule. This aims to ensure the opportunity to exchange ideas between all poster presenters and
conference attendees, regardless of their modality of participation.
• The submission of the virtual poster has to be by email at [email protected] and the file has to be identified by the submission number and
the last name of the presenter (e.g. P057_SILVA.pdf). Participants must check on the conference submission system the code of their proposal. The
virtual poster has to be in PDF format containing the main parts of the proposal.
o Specifications
▪ Virtual posters: virtual poster must be a single slide in A0 format (vertical), which means an archive that follows the proportions of 84cm
x 118 cm.
▪ Printed posters: printed posters must follow the same format, A0 size (84cm X 118 cm).
• The submission deadline for sending along the virtual posters (which is a mandatory step for all presenters) is July 15th.
• Presentation:
o Presenters attending remotely will have their posters displayed at the PADLET app and will have the opportunity to respond questions on their
posters during all the conference.
o Those presenting in person will have their posters displayed during the time reserved in conference program, where all the participants will
have the opportunity to visit the posters, ask questions and chat with presenters.
