INTRODUCTION

. A group of Company, Amman Steel Corporation was initially a raw

material supplier and trade organization. Amman Steel Group soon

expanded into the biggest integrated steel plant with Embedded quality

concept in the private sector in South India.

It is one of the largest and most respected companies in South India

with 2 Rolling Mill plants in Tamil Nadu and an iron making plant in

Andhra Pradesh. It is headquartered at Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. The

company is engaged in the business of manufacturing of Bars and Rods

of various sizes. The rolled products are Steel Rods(TMT/CRS/RINGS).

These rolled products, namely 6,8,10,12,16,20 and 25mm rods are

extensively used in buildings and other civil construction works.

AMMAN-TRY Steel has always been a leader in the Steel Industry,

introducing new concepts in steel and started to produce CRS Bars in

2007 after that AMMAN-TRY emerged as the major steel producer in

Tamil Nadu.

Amman Steel Group has grown over the years from a mere 25 dealers

to more than 300 dealers now. This growth was possible only because

of the co-operation and support offered by dealers. To be deserving, in

return the AMMAN-TRY Steels make fine housing comfortable and

affordable. AMMAN-TRY Steel is the Amman Steel Group’s Trade Mark

and most popular brand in South India.Amman Steel Group thrives on

professionalism, business ethics and customer delight with 300 dealers

spread across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The company’s business are

supported by a wide marketing and distribution network and have

established a reputation for strong customer support. Amman Steel

CRS) from 6mm to 25mm.

Amman Steel Corporation was established in the year 1979. We are

Manufacturer and Supplier of Steel Rods, TMT Bars, TMT Rods, Angle

Scrap, Cast Iron Scrap, Ms Scrap, Plate Scrap etc. Further, we check the

specification of the products, quality and other relevant facts that are

provided to our clients. We have a team of experienced professionals,

who make sure that all the given responsibilities are implemented in an

efficient and timely manner. They help us to understand the changing

demands of the market and cater to them accordingly. All these scrap

are obtained from highly authorized and trusted vendors of the market.

Established Rolling Mill (1999)

In metalworking, rolling is a metal forming process in

which metal stock is passed through one or more pairs of rolls to

reduce the thickness, to make the thickness uniform, and/or to impart

a desired mechanical property. The concept is similar to the rolling of

dough. Rolling is classified according to the temperature of the metal

rolled. If the temperature of the metal is above

its recrystallization temperature, then the process is known as hot

rolling. If the temperature of the metal is below its recrystallization

temperature, the process is known as cold rolling. In terms of usage,

hot rolling processes more tonnage than any other manufacturing

process, and cold rolling processes the most tonnage out of all cold

working processes.[1][2] Roll stands holding pairs of rolls are grouped

together into rolling mills that can quickly process metal, typically steel,

into products such as structural steel (I-beams, angle stock, channel

stock), bar stock, and rails. Most steel mills have rolling mill divisions

that convert the semi-finished casting products into finished products.

SULPHUR & PHOPHORUS (S & P)

Expert believes that these two chemical components (S & P) will easily

affect the steel bars by reducing their elongation and bendability, by

which the building’s life becomes a question.

To overcome this, 500 guarD was introduced by ISI.

Compared to the ISI standards, our AMMAN-TRY “500 guarD" are made

of even less S&P components for getting the following advantage

BENDABILITY

Our “500 guarD” bars are made of billet with low percentage Sulphur &

Phosphorus, which posses excellent bendability and requires low power

to bending the bar for construction purposes.

EARTHQUAKE RESISTANCE

These bars are provided with balanced stiffness, Strength and ductility

to resist earthquakes. Our “500 guarD” provide very high strengths with

higher elongation values and better ductility compared to other steel

bars.

QUALITY GUARANTEED

AMMAN-TRY / TMT Bars are manufactured to the International

standards and Indian standards IS: 1786, IS: 2830 and IS: 456 standards.

It is also recognized by CEB as equivalent to International standards.

EQUAL TO WORLD STANDARDS

AMMAN-TRY is a pioneer in the implementation of Thermo Mechanical

Treatment Method by Tempcore Belgium Technology.

Amman Steel established the leadership by adopting the latest Belgium

based Tempcore Thermo Mechanically Treated Process Technology.

TMT process can be described in three successive stages. The first stage

is when the hot rolled bar is rapidly quenched by special water Spraying

System. Consequent of this initial stage is the second stage where in

Temperature Gradient is formed that is the temperature of the surface

is lesser than that of the core. Hence heat from the Core automatically

gets transferred to the surface leading to formation of Tempered

Martensite which is strong and tough. At the final stage there is

atmospheric cooling where in the heat transforms into soft and ductile

inner core called Ferrite Pearlite and strong outer layer called

Martensite. Amman-TRY / TMT is a perfect blend of these strength and

ductility.

PROCESS
CRS (Corrosion Resistance Steel) bars manufactured by an addition of

Copper and Chromium to prevent from the rust and corrosion. Copper

will plug the pores in the rust. By adding Chromium (Cr) into steel,

increase the passivity of anions. Another advantage is we are making

the steel slightly ferrite thus pitting resistance is increased. Chromium

also increases the passivity and will form an invisible layer.

Phosphorous acts as inhibitor. This will reduce the anodic reaction.

These CRS bars are manufactured through the TMT procedure. Amman-

TRY readymade Steel (Rings) made of ISI Fe 500 grade high strength

TMT bar in most commonly used sizes

HIGHLIGHTS OF AMMAN- TRY RMS (RINGS)

RMS from quality Billet TMT Bars in various shapes like Square,

Rectangle, and Round. Rings are manufactured through automatic

machines, using the strictest quality control to ensure consistency

Quality & accurate dimensions. They have a 135 degree hook as

prescribed, for better bonding with concrete core and 4D size Mandrel

(Pin Plate) for Bending.

BILLETS
PROCESS
Furnace: The capacity of our induction furnace is 25Mt. The furnace is

lined with silica ramming mass.

Scrap: We are using imported shredded scrap HMS, M.S.Borings, Local

Scrap and Sponge Iron.

Method: The Scrap is charged into the furnace by Electro Magnet and

the furnace is switched on. The charging of different grades of scrap is

done at intervals. When the furnace is half full sample will be taken for

chemical analysis. When the furnace level is 3/4 again sample will be

taken and analyse to ensure correct chemical composition in liquid

metal. When the furnace is almost full chemistry will be checked again

and the temperature is measured. When temperature reaches 1600

degree centigrade, calculated amount of aluminum followed by Ferro

alloys like Ferro manganese, Ferro silicon, silico manganese, etc., will be

added and the temperature will be raised.

Tapping: When the temperature reaches around 1650 degree

centigrade the liquid metal will be poured into a refractory lined

preheated red hot ladle. To ensure uniform mixing of liquid metal and

bring down the liquid metal temperature to 1610-1615 degree

centigrade Nitrogen purging will be done.

Casting: The final ladle temperature of L.M will be taken in the

Continous Casting Machine (CCM) and the ladle is placed at the ladle

seat. When the ladle is opened by hydraulically operated slide-gate

system the liquid metal fall to the tundish placed under the ladle. When

the tundish is ¾ full the two tundish nozzles will be opened and the

metal stream falls in to the water cooled mould tubes (100mm).

Aluminum wire feeding is done in the mould tube to ensure physical

quality of billets.The L.M. gets cooled in the mould tube and a shell

thickness of 7 to 10mm is attained in the mould tube. The partially

solidified billet will come out of the mould tube and will be further
cooled by spraying of water at required pressure in the cooling

chamber. When the billets come out of the cooling chamber it will be

solid. The billet then passes through the straightner where it will get

straightened.

Billet Cutting: The straightened billets are then cut into required length

by gas. The cut billets will be allowed to cool at the skid bank for some

time. Billet sample will be taken and analyzed by spectrometer Billet

sample will be taken and etched to ensure the billets are free from

physical defect like cracks, inclusions, piping, and rhomboidity, etc.,

Billet Identification: The billets are then transferred to the stock yard

and proper identification numbers will be given to the billets. Now the

billets are ready for dispatch.

ADVANTAGES

Billets are good and magnificent raw materials for Bar (TMT & CRS)

manufacturing. Billets are made by Ladle pouring Method to avoid

defects like Blow Holes, Piping and Cracks. This is a major reason for the

Unshakable Strength of Amman-TRY Bars

As you are aware, AMMAN-TRY has been a pioneer in the Industry with

many new introductions and implementation from the start of its

business. On this front, AMMAN-TRY is pleased to introduce the

Newsletter (இரும்பின் குரல்) for all our Stakeholders to aware of

what is happening around the Company and Industry at large. The

launch event of this Newsletter held on 03 October 2020 at Pondicherry

amidst the Top 50 dealers.

It will be a Quarterly edition to start with and we will work to increase

the frequency in future. This Newsletter will carry information about

the Events/activities organised by AMMAN-TRY, Updates related to the

steel Industry, General construction tips, Flyers in Social Media and the

feedback form for our interaction.

As we got support for all our initiatives, we believe this Newsletter

initiative will also get the required support from all our Stakeholders.
ACCESSIBILITY RAMP

AMMAN-TRY 22 JUL 2020 0 COMMENT

Accessibility Ramp along with handrails on either side to help the

specially-abled people to access the Trichy District library with much

ease.

As a part of engaging the dealers and honouring their efforts, AMMAN-

TRY conducts the Annual Dealers Meeting every year. In this regard, the

19th Annual Dealers meet was held at The Lalit Ashok Hotel, Bengaluru

from 21st Sep to 23rd Sep 2019.

The 3 days were filled with entertainment, honouring the dealers with

awards & gifts, site seeing (Cubbon Park, Vidhan Soudha, Visvesvaraya

Industrial Museum, Lalbagh Botanical Garden, Bannerghatta Biological

Forest), Networking and family get together with fun events.

It was indeed a memorable trip for our

CONCLUSION:

During the period of training in AMMAN-TRY TMT BARS, I have studied

a lot of functional aspects of various department like production,

purchase, accounts department, etc. I have also trained with the flow

and delegation of authorities from the top level management to middle

and lower level of management.

The industrial training has provided a valuable knowledge on

various functions of different department the harmonious and the

efficiency of staff and employees are quite normal. The training

enables me to have a correct view of the various practical aspects and

difficulties of the various theoretical are immensely benefited from the

training program.
