A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 7

QUARTER 2: MODULE7: LEVELS OF BIOLOGICAL ORGANIZATION

I. Objectives
At the end of the 60-minute class, 75% of the learners should be able to:
1. Identify the 9 levels of biological organization;
2. Describe the levels of biological organization from cell to biosphere
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Levels of Biological Organization
References: Learning Module Science 7
Code: S7LT-IIc-3
Materials: Projector, Laptop, Instructional Materials (Print-outs)
III. Procedure
A. Prepatory Activity
 Prayer
 Greetings
 Classroom Management
B. Motivation
Let us Play “Build-Build-Build”, this activity is very simple, the teacher will
prepare picture cut-outs that you will arrange and paste it accordingly in the board.

This activity is related with our topic for today.

C. Lesson Proper

 Introduction
Before we proceed, the teacher will introduce the topic through defining what is a Biological
Organization.
As the image show how the Level of Biological Organization is arranged. Likewise, the flow of
discussion will be accordingly.

 Discussion Proper
Levels of Biological Organization is composed of 9 levels which basically starts from the
smallest to the largest structure.
1. Cell – smallest structural unit of life
2. Tissues – Group of cells with similar shape and function
3. Organ – Collection of tissues that form a functional unit specialized in performing certain
function
4. Organ System – Group of organs that work together to perform a certain function
5. Organism – Material structure of a life form
6. Population – Group of individuals or species that live in a same certain area
7. Community – Group of populations of two or more different species occupying the same
geographical area at the same time
8. Ecosystem – A structural and functional unit where the living organisms (Biotic Factors) interact
with each other in an area as well as its physical environment (Abiotic Factors).
9. Biosphere – Collection of all ecosystems, represents the zones of life on Earth

IV. Assessment
This activity is very short and simple, the student will try to enumerate all the levels of biological
organization in order then define based on their own understanding of each levels.
V. Assignment/Agreement
“For your assignment, bring manila paper, marker and glue”
