Stayed abreast with the latest best practices and strategies through professional development courses to ensure that I
was offering all my students the very best instruction possible.

Prepared my students in French III Honors with the skills they would need in order to go on and successfully pass the
Advanced Placement French Language and Culture Examination. I did the same as well with my Pre-IB students in
preparing them with the necessary skills, resources, and knowledge required of them to later take and ultimately pass
their IB exams and in turn earn their IB diplomas.

Sought to maintain and foster a close working relationship with the administration, my colleagues, department, and
parents all for the ultimate benefit of my students as well as myself as a professional.

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns (from March 2020 through the end of
October 2021,) I taught solely online through the use of various educational platforms such as Edmodo, Microsoft
Teams, and Zoom.

Taught English to very young non-native English speakers living in China. The ages of my students ranged from
around 4 to 14 years old.

We would work on vocabulary in isolation and in context; the various grammatical forms of verbs; idioms and
expressions; cultural differences and similarities; as well as the different rules of the English language such as how to
recognize, read, and correctly pronounce a word with a short versus a long vowel sound; etc. I would also work with
the students to improve their reading fluency and overall reading comprehension skills.

At the end of every unit, there would be an assessment that would enable myself as the instructor, the students, and
their parents know whether or not the student had achieved “mastery” of the objectives laid out in said lesson.

Even though I am the one in charge of instruction and delivering the lesson remotely, I work with a team (i.e.: my
Academic Coach; the Classroom Coach who is in the classroom physically with the students in charge of various tasks
like classroom discipline and the like; the school administration; and my colleagues in the World Language
Department) to ensure the highest, and most effective quality of foreign language instruction. Every day we strive and
work as a team to create an overall positive learning experience for the students, one in which they feel comfortable,
and safe. Our goal is to create a space that challenges them to grow, interact with each other, and put the target
language that they are learning into use both in and outside the classroom.

This school year I have three classes of French I and am following the traditional scope and sequence for this level. We
cover vocabulary and grammar, in isolation and in context, as well as culture. I am also very big on having the students

practice their oral communication skills rather than simply just writing and reading, so I will often have them practice
expressions or questions and their corresponding answers that we covered that day in class with a partner or in a small
group for a participation grade. This helps to break up the monotony of written work and gets them practicing and
speaking the target language with each other and increases their self-confidence when it comes to foreign language
learning.
