Important Update on RBI Guidelines for New Issuance

FAQ’s on Activation of newly issued Axis Bank Credit Card

As per RBI Circular on Master Direction – Credit & Debit Cards – Issuance and Conduct Directions dated 21 st
April, 2022 Clause 6 (a)vi, w.e.f.1 st Oct, 2022, if the new Axis Bank Credit Card is not activated within first 30
days from day of issuance, the Credit Card shall be closed by Axis Bank post 7 days of notice. To ensure continuity
of service, you should activate your Axis Bank Credit Card within the time period mentioned in the
communication sent on your registered email ID or mobile number.

1. I have received a communication mentioning my Axis Bank Credit Card is inactive and will be closed. Why
did I receive this communication?
As per RBI circular mentioned above, all newly issued Axis Bank Credit Card should be closed if they are not
activated in first 30 days. In case your Axis Bank Credit Card remain unused for 3 0 days after issuance of
your Credit Card, the card would be placed under temporary block. The communication is to intimate you
about this guideline and to ensure that your Axis Bank Credit Card is activated to avoid permanent closure.

 Set your Credit Card Pin
 Enable Card usage (Online, Contactless, International transaction)
 Initiate any purchase transaction
 Missed call on 9966015552
 SMS CARDACT to 56161
 Tokenize your Axis Bank Credit Card

2. I have received a communication mentioning my Axis Bank Credit Card is unused and temporarily closed.
Why did I receive this communication?

As per RBI circular mentioned above, all newly issued Axis Bank Credit Card should be closed if they are not

the communication received from Axis Bank.
3. What do I need to do to prevent permanent closure of Axis Bank Credit Card, post 30 days?
In order to avoid permanent Axis Bank Credit Card Closure, activate your Card by providing your consent at
Axisbank.com/CardAct within stipulated time as mentioned in the communication received from Axis Bank.

4. My Axis Bank Credit Card is within 30day window, will my Credit Card get closed if I don’t use?
You need to activate the Axis Bank Credit Card within 30days from issuance date. Set your Credit Card Pin /
Enable Card usage (Online, Contactless, International transaction) through Axisbank.com/unboxing kindly
initiate a purchase transaction or give a missed call 9966015552 or SMS CARDACT to 56161 from your
mobile number registered with Axis bank

If your Axis Bank Credit Card is not used or activated within 30days after issuance, your Credit Card will be
placed under temporary block. In that case, to activate the Axis Bank Credit Card post 30 days from issuance,
you can provide your consent and activate your Axis Bank Credit Card by visiting Axisbank.com/CardAct.

5. How do I activate my Axis Bank Credit Card within 30days post issuance of Card?
To activate the Axis Bank Credit Card within 30days from issuance of card, kindly or Set your Credit Card Pin
/ Enable Card usage (Online, Contactless, International transaction) through Axisbank.com/unboxing ,
initiate a purchase transaction or give a missed call 9966015552 or SMS CARDACT to 56161 from your
mobile number registered with Axis bank

6. What would happen to Axis Bank Credit Card if I do not activate after the deadline mentioned in the
communication?
 In case you do not activate your Axis Bank Credit Card within the stipulated time communicated by
the Bank, the card will be closed permanently

 Primary and Add-on Card/s (if any) will also be closed by the Bank.
 Once your Axis Bank Credit Card is closed permanently, you will need to re-apply for a new Axis Bank
Credit Card in case a new Credit Card is needed
