1. SCOPE
This method statement gives you guidelines to perform remote visual inspection of tubing
using bore scope cameras.

2. Purpose
This method statement is to ensure that Bore scope inspection of tubing’s are carried out
safely, efficiently in accordance with good working practice, Client Specifications.

3. Reference Documents
The following documents were used in these method statements should be carefully reviewed
by the inspectors/inspection engineers prior to performing inspection. All references should
be the latest issued revision or edition.
Ø ASNT-SNT-TC-1A-2011&2016: Recommended Practice for Personnel
Qualification and Certification in Non-destructive Testing.
Ø ASME Sec V-2017 Article 9-Standard Specification for Visual Inspection
Ø Tubing’s general arrangements/Layout and construction drawing.
Ø Visual Inspection acceptance criteria as per client requirement.
Ø Bore scope/Video scope Equipment Manual.

4. Personnel Qualification

Personnel performing examinations to the requirements of this specification shall be qualified


and certified in accordance with Aries company procedure for qualification and certification
of Non-destructive Testing Personnel.
The inspector shall be familiar with drawings, codes, specifications, weld procedure and
performance qualification requirements and workmanship standards.

Personnel performing Examination shall have vision, with correction if necessary, to enable
to read Jaeger Type No. 1 Standard Chart at a distance of not less than 300mm, and
differentiate the contrast between the colors or shades of gray, and records of such vision test
shall be maintained by Aries. Vision tests shall be conducted annually and be current during
examination.
Personnel performing Remote visual examination using this Procedure shall be qualified to a
minimum of ASNT NDT VT Level II or Hands on Trained and certified in Equipment
Operation.

5. Responsibilities

5.1 NDE technicians


NDE inspector is responsible for
· Ensure that Adequate equipment’s, Material and manpower is in place to carry
out the activities efficiently and with required level of safety
· Coordinate with client to arrange the work permits prior to start the work
· Ensure that proper safety and quality procedures are followed while
performing the works
· Provided necessary instructions and information to the subordinates to
complete the works with in required safety.
· Conducts inspections in accordance with approved procedures and ITP.
· Preparation of inspection reports on daily basis with acceptance and rejection
criteria.

5.2 Safety officer


Safety officer is responsible for
· Ensure that all safety requirements have been adequately followed and work is
carried out as per approved safety procedures.
· Check and report the work area for any unsafe conditions and activities.
· Instruct the work force about the safety requirements before and during the
execution of each activity.

7. Detailed activities

a. Pre inspection activities

1. Ensure the all approved procedures, Drawings and documents are circulated among the
concerned personnel’s involved in the works.
2. Bore scope equipment’s shall be brought to site in dismantled condition then will be
shifted inside the client facility manually or by crane to the designated area provided by
client.
3. Make sure that to follow proper manual handling techniques while loading and offloading
of Equipment’s
4. All cables and probes should be organized properly tied and arranged.
5. Follow permits to work w.r.t site requirement.
6. Conduct tool box talk on a daily basis.
7. Check the equipment condition including the calibration
8. While working at height mobilize the equipment with crane - Follow the control measures
as per the Bore scope risk assessment - RA 50
9. Connect probe with the equipment in the proper socket. Refer equipment manual
10. Earth the machine properly. Refer equipment manual
11. Select the suitable probe tip and measuring tip at the cable end.
12. Switch on the main power supply. – Risk of electrical shock shall be avoided by proper
control measures mentioned in the risk assessment. All technicians shall undergo training
on electrical safety. Use appropriate hand glow
13. Check the sensitivity using Measurement verification block.
14. Insert the probe shaft throughout the tube length.
15. Start video recording and save the data while pulling the probe.
16. Turn off equipment after usage.
17. After completed the job dismantle the equipment and demobilize care fully

b. Post inspection

1. Dismantling and demobilization of all equipment’s up on completion of inspection and


proper housekeeping shall be maintained.

2. Inspection reports shall be submitted with detailed observations and required


recommendation.

8. SAFETY

8.1 General Safety


o Daily tool box meeting need to conduct prior to starting the work.
o Ensure that all tools used for inspection shall be defect free and good working
Condition with valid calibration and competency certificates.
o Work permit (Cold) shall be used based on the work scope and procedure.
o Wear proper PPES based on nature of job.
o Stay away from any suspended load or falling objects.
o Proper handling, storage and transportation of equipment’s and tools shall be ensured
as per client / Aries requirements.
o All electrical connections shall be approved by client.
o Ensure authorized personnel’s are only allowed in the premises.
o First Aid facility shall be readily available in the high risk area.
o Proper hydration schedule with Electrolyte drinks, Breaks shall be ensured.
o Proper housekeeping shall be followed.
o Always follow the operating and handling instructions and be constantly aware of the
Dangers.
o Do not incinerate, drop, hit, abuse & short-circuit batteries, Keep batteries away from
Fire and other sources of extreme heat.

9. DOCUMENTATION
9.1. Report of Examination

A Written report of the examination shall contain the following information:

· The date of the examination


· Procedure identification and revision used
· Technique used
· Results of the examination
· Examination personnel identity and when required by the referencing code section,
qualification level
· Identification of the part or component examined
