SUMMARY
After the process gas has been cooled in the pre-coolers the liquids are
collected in the gas compressor suction scrubbers and thereafter pumped
back to the inlet manifold by Liquid Transfer Pumps 5-P-0250A/B
The pumps are centrifugal type with a working discharge pressure of
26.8/30 barg, and a flow rate of 14m3/h.
Each pump is fitted with its own independent lube oil system, and the
pump stop/start commands are initiated by the field operators, however in
case of emergency the pumps can be stopped via a command from the
control room.
The selected pump is designed to run continuously, therefore a minimum
flow line back to the scubber is installed
Note:
Lubricate the mechanical seals as per API 53M : 1bar above
suction pressure, therefore the motor stop/start and shut-downs on
the OTP will be carried out with the pump motor un-coupled, and
the complete OTP will need to be done after Start-up

5 START- UP AND TUNING

5.1 START-UP STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE

1. Obtain Permit-to-Work.

2. Ensure the Scrubber has been previously filled to activate LAHH-

0210A

3. Ensure 2 x 6” valves on pumps suction lines are closed

4. Ensure PSDV-0213 is open

5. Confirm with control room that LAHH-0210A is active and that

LV-0213 is in Auto control showing 100% level on LIT-0213 and
that the valve is fully open

6. Confirm level in sight glass is showing 1000mm

7. Remove 2” blank flange on drain line to open drain

8. Slowly open drain valves and start to lower the scrubber level

9. Observe level dropping in sight glass and LIT-0213

10. Observe LV-0213 controlling as level drops

11. Continue dropping level until LALL-0211A activates at 150mm

and PSDV-0213 closes

12. Continue draining level until all water has been removed from
scrubber, re-install 2” drain blank flange, using new gasket

13. Force open PSDV-0213

14. Remove 2 x ¾” blank flanges on pumps suction drains, open ¾”

valves

15. Open 2 x 6” pumps inlet valves and drain off all water

16. Re-install 2 x ¾” drain valve blank flanges, using new gaskets

17. Ensure the pump motors are un-coupled

18. Ensure that the liquid transfer pumps A & B motors are isolated at
the MCC. If not get the electrical engineer to isolate them both
