    What Do You Know About Sin?


    WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT SIN? A careful study of the Bible reveals much about what we need to
    know about the practice of sin. You would be surprise but a lot of people do not even know what sin is. Let
    us then take a look at what the Bible teaches regarding sin.
    Sin entered the world through Adam and Eve. The Apostle Paul taught about this in Romans 5:12. When
    we go back to Genesis 3, we then learn that Eve was deceived by Satan, and then Eve deceived her husband,
    Adam. Beginning from this couple, sin entered the world and now all are guilty of sin (Romans 3:23). This
    does not mean that humans are born sinful. This doctrine is not found in the Bible.
    Sin separates man from God. This is what the prophet Isaiah said in Isaiah 59:1-2. Sin separates man from
    God because He cannot have fellowship with those who practice sin. If we go back again to Genesis 3, we
    learn that God expelled Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden (vs. 23-24). We will be separated from God
    if we allow sin to be in our lives.
    Sin has a great scope in mankind. The Apostle Paul said to the saints at Rome that “all have sinned and fall-
    en short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Sin attacks everyone who is capable of reasoning between what
    is right and what is wrong. We need to acknowledge the fact that sin is universal and it affects everyone.
    Sin can cause a person to die spiritually. In Romans 6:23 Paul said that “the wages of sin is death…” This
    means that sin can kill you spiritually. Only God can give you life through Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:1-4). If
    you are guilty of sin, you may appear to be alive, but spiritually speaking, you are dead.

    Sin is a failure to obey God’s commands. The Apostle John gives us a clear definition of what sin is: It is the
    transgression of God’s Law (1 John 3:5). Sin is also a failure to do what is right (James 4:17). It is the practice
    of unrighteousness (1 John 5:17). When you disobey God, this results in the practice of sin.

    Sin can be overcome by Jesus Christ. Yes, this is what the Bible tells us. Jesus is who takes away the sin of
    the world (John 1:29). His powerful and precious blood can cleanse us from all sin (Ephesians 1:7; Acts
    22:16). Jesus came to save sinners (1 Timothy 1:15). Thank God for Jesus Christ and the power He has to for-
    give us of our sins (Mark 2:10).

    May the Lord give us the wisdom and courage to stay away from sin!

    ¿QUÉ SABE SOBRE EL PECADO? Un estudio cuidadoso de la Biblia revela mucho sobre lo que debemos
    saber sobre la práctica del pecado. Sería una sorpresa, pero muchas personas ni siquiera saben qué es el pe-
    cado. Echemos un vistazo a lo que la Biblia enseña con respecto al pecado.
    El pecado entró al mundo a través de Adán y Eva. El apóstol Pablo enseñó acerca de esto en Romanos 5:12.
    Cuando regresamos a Génesis 3, aprendemos que Eva fue engañada por Satanás, y luego Eva engañó a su
    esposo, Adán. A partir de esta pareja, el pecado entró en el mundo y ahora todos son culpables de pecado
    (Romanos 3:23). Esto no significa que los humanos nacen pecaminosos. Esta doctrina no se encuentra en la
    Biblia.
    El pecado separa al hombre de Dios. Esto es lo que dijo el profeta Isaías en Isaías 59:1-2. El pecado separa al
    hombre de Dios porque no puede tener comunión con aquellos que practican el pecado. Si volvemos nueva-
    mente a Génesis 3, aprendemos que Dios expulsó a Adán y Eva del Jardín del Edén (vs. 23-24). Seremos se-
    parados de Dios si permitimos que el pecado esté en nuestras vidas.
    El pecado tiene un gran alcance en la humanidad. El apóstol Pablo les dijo a los santos en Roma que "todos
    pecaron, y están destituidos de la gloria de Dios" (Romanos 3:23). El pecado ataca a todos los que son capa-
    ces de razonar entre lo que está bien y lo que está mal. Necesitamos reconocer el hecho de que el pecado es
    universal y afecta a todos.
    El pecado puede causar que una persona muera espiritualmente. En Romanos 6:23 Pablo dijo que "la paga
    del pecado es muerte ..." Esto significa que el pecado puede matarte espiritualmente. Solo Dios puede darte
    vida por medio de Jesucristo (Efesios 2: 1-4). Si eres culpable de pecado, puedes parecer estar vivo, pero es-
    piritualmente hablando, estás muerto.
    El pecado es violar los mandamientos de Dios. El apóstol Juan nos da una definición clara de lo que es el
    pecado: es la transgresión de la Ley de Dios (1 Juan 3: 5). El pecado es también una falla en hacer lo correcto
    (Santiago 4:17). Es la práctica de la injusticia (1 Juan 5:17). Cuando desobedeces a Dios, esto resulta en la
    práctica del pecado.
    El pecado puede ser vencido por Jesucristo. Sí, esto es lo que la Biblia nos dice. Jesús es quien quita el peca-
    do del mundo (Juan 1:29). Su sangre poderosa y preciosa puede limpiarnos de todo pecado (Efesios 1: 7, He-
    chos 22:16). Jesús vino a salvar a los pecadores (1 Timoteo 1:15). Gracias a Dios por Jesucristo y el poder que
