File sharing allows multiple users to access and use the same files. To enable file sharing on Windows 10, you turn on file and printer sharing in the control panel and share files using File Explorer. You can share files by right clicking a file or folder, selecting properties, enabling sharing, and selecting users to share with and their permission levels. Printer sharing allows multiple computers on a network to access and print to the same printer. To share a printer, you enable sharing on the printer properties on the computer it's connected to, and then other computers on the network can add the shared printer.

What is file sharing?


 File sharing allows a number of people to use the same file or file by some
combination of being able to read or view it, write to or modify it, copy it, or print
it. Step by Step procedure to Share files on network:

Part 1: Enable File Sharing on Windows 10


You can turn on file and printer sharing to allow other users to access the files and
printers that you have shared on your computer in Windows 10.
Step 1. Open Control Panel, select View network status and tasks under Network
and Internet.

Step 2: Click Change advanced sharing settings on the left of Network and Sharing
Centre panel.

Step 3: Select Turn on file and printer sharing and then click the Save changes
button to keep the changes.

Part 2: Share Files by File Explorer


How to set up file sharing on windows 10?
 File Explorer is the most convenientand efficient tool to share files on Windows
10 due to the reason that you canuse more restrictive permissions and share
files with almost any device.
 Setting up file sharing on windows 10 by File Explorer allows you to use the basic
settings or the advanced settings. No matter which option you take, youshould
complete the following three steps at first.
Step 1 .Open File Explorer and go to the file or folder that you want to share.
Step 2 .Right click the folder and choose Properties.

Step 3. In the Document Properties panel, select Sharing tab.

Step 2 .Go to Choose people to share with to select the user or group, and then click
Add.

Step 3. Select a type of Permission Level, and then click Share button.

Printer Sharing:
 Printer sharing is the process of allowing multiple computers and devices
connected to the same network to access one or more printers.

Need of printer sharing:


 Printer sharing is the process of allowing multiple computers and devices
connected to the same network to access one or more printers. Each node or
device on the network can print to any shared printer and, to some extent, make
changes to the printer settings, depending on the permissions set by the
administrator for each user.
Step by Step procedure to Share the printer on the primary PC:

Share a Printer
First, start with the computer the printer is connected to. Make sure it's installed correctly with
the latest drivers. Then click Start > Devices and Printers.

Next, right-click on the printer you want to share and select Printer Properties.

Click the Sharing Tab. Make sure Share this Printer is checked and give it an easy to
remember share name: Click OK.

The computer the printer is attached to will need to be powered on to find and print to it.
Now go to the other computer you want to print from Click Start >> Devices and
Printers

Click Add a Printer.

Next, click Add a Network, Wireless or Bluetooth Printer.

The system will search your network for the shared printer. When it finds the printer,
highlight it and click Next.

Success. Click Next.

Back in Devices and Printers, you'll find the printer listed. Send a test page to the printer
to verify it's working.

If Windows doesn't automatically find the printer, click The Printer That I Want Isn't
Listed.

Next, check "Select a Shared Printer by Name" and type in the path directly.

Or click Browse to find the printer and select it.

After the shared printer has been added to your system, right-click on the icon and set it
as the default printer.

Each printer is different and having the latest drivers is key. Especially when sharing
between Windows 7 64 & 32-bit systems.
