Computer Syllabus
AIMS
This course focuses on the essential skills needed to work with computer systems, including using the Windows operating system to run
applications and using Microsoft office products in daily work such as MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point. This course also seeks to teach
students about computer system components and information technology concepts.
COURSE GOAL:
The course goal is designed to provide the student with an understanding of the basics of Windows Operating System, Word, PowerPoint and
Excel.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Give the student a basic familiarity (literacy) with computer and their uses.
Offer students practical knowledge in the basic computer components and peripherals devices, the windows environment, file management,
application and document.
Train students on Microsoft (MS) Office components: Windows Basic Operating System, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Assign the students – through the free lab hours – several projects such as: creating, formatting, and integrating documents, presentation
charts and spreadsheets

B – Practical skill/Subject Specific Skills:
1) Students will be able to use MS Office programs for writing them researches, entering data, or preparing their presentation
2) Students will be able to use computer system, windows operating system, working on some programs and managing their files.
C – Transferable Skill relevant to employability and personal development:
1) Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODS:
Interactive lectures
Lecture on major concepts and issues: Interactive lectures with videos and PowerPoint slide are conducted with lecture explaining and illustrating the
concepts. Students will be invited to share their view and experience in applying the concepts.
Practical Exercises
Each students will be required to apply an exercise under the lecture supervision almost in each lecture to practice using computers and MSOffice
programs.
