ADULT ALLIGATOR SLIPPER SOCKS

Instructions given fit women's shoe sizes 5/6, 7/8, and 9/10, and men’s sizes 9/10 and 11/12

MATERIALS NEEDED:

Red Heart Super Saver Medium Worsted Yarn:


Aran: 140 yards (for largest size)
Hunter Green: 160 yards (for largest size)
Size G6/4.00mm crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge
Size E4/3.50mm crochet hook (to make legs only)
Stitch Markers
Yarn Needle

SPECIAL STITCHES:
pc: 4 dc in indicated stitch, drop loop from hook, insert hook from front to back in first dc, pull
dropped loop through
pc #2: 6 dc in indicated stitch, drop loop from hook, insert hook from front to back in first dc, pull
dropped loop through
Bob (bobble): *yarn over, insert hook in indicated st, draw up a loop, yarn over, pull through 2
loops, rep from * two more times, yarn over, draw through all 4 loops
Picot: Ch 3, sl st in third ch from hook

NOTES:
*Socks are crocheted in one flat piece and sewn together
*Ch 2 at beg of rows does not count as a stitch, unless otherwise indicated
*Row numbering restarts with each different section, so to help with counting rows, you may
want to use stitch markers (different than the ones you use to mark the indicated rows) or scrap
yarn to mark the beginning of each section.
*Popcorn sts (pc and pc #2) are always worked on the Right Side
*Bobble st (bob) is always worked on the Wrong Side

ASSEMBLY:
*Fold heel flap, with right sides together, lining up marked rows of heel. (Picture 1) Starting at
the fold, sew up to the first stitch markers. (Picture 2) Repeat on other side of heel. Do not turn
heel right side out.
*Fold sock at the toe, with right sides together (pc sts will be inside). Line up stitch markers of
ankle so they fit into the "corner" of the sewn heel.

Starting at the toe, sew the side of the sock, stopping at the stitch marker (the green marker
shown in the picture below) of bottom jaw. Repeat on other side of sock. Weave in all ends and
turn sock right side out.
With top of sock facing up, and nose to the left, join green with sc in corner of top jaw.
Sc evenly up side of top jaw (about 18 sc), across tip of nose (9 sc), and down the other
side of the top jaw (18 sc). Cut green and join Aran, and sc evenly along side of bottom
jaw (16 sc), across tip (7sc), and along other side of bottom jaw (16 sc). DO NOT fasten
off.

TEETH:
Continuing with Aran, sl st in first 2 sc of top jaw, *picot, sl st in each of next 2 sc of jaw.
Rep from * around entire mouth opening, ending with a sl st in last sc of bottom jaw.
Fasten off and weave in all ends.

LEGS (MAKE 8):


Round 1: With Green, and E4 hook, ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook, and in each of next 2
chs, 2 sc in last ch, do not turn
Round 2: Working in bottom of foundation chain, 2 sc in first ch, sc in each of next 3 chs,
do not turn
Round 3: Picot, sl st in side of last sc of row 2, picot, sl st in middle of row end, picot,
sl st in first sc of round 1, sc in each of next 3 sc. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for
sewing leg onto sock.

Sew legs onto socks

Attach safety eyes to each pc#2, trimming the stem, if needed, and tucking the washer
up inside the pc#2.
