ABSTRACT

This study aims to establish the relationship between Teaching Strategies of Faculty

and Academic Performances of Social Studies students in Sultan Kudarat State University

ACCESS Campus. Since there is no study conducted establishing the relationship of teaching

strategies and academic performance especially in Social Studies hence this study was

conducted. A descriptive-correlational method was utilized. The respondents of the study were

the Social Studies Teachers and the Social Studies 3rd Year students of Sultan Kudarat State

University. The total enumeration was used and validated survey questionnaire were used to

gather the data. All of the the computations were formulated using the Microsoft Excel 2013

and the level of significance was set at 0.05 levels.

This study found out that Teaching Strategy in terms of Independent Study indicates

that there is a significant correlation and a weak relationship to the Academic Performances of

the Students. On the other hand, the outcome between Role Play as a Teaching Strategy and

Academic Performances of the students indicates a low correlation and has a very weak

relationship.Furthermore, the result between Discussion as Teaching Strategy and Academic

Performances of the students indicates a high correlation and has a weak relationship.

The study unexpectedly shows that even though there is a significant

relationship between the two variables the data proves that not all Teaching Strategies

mentioned can be utilized in Social Studies subjects such as Foundation of Social

Studies, Geography 1, and Philippine Constitution.
