3.3 Cooling System

3.3.1 NetCol5000-C Positioning
With the rapid development of data centers, power consumption of core equipment in a
traditional equipment room has risen from 3–5 kW per cabinet to 6–10 kW per cabinet. In the
meantime, the design specifications of data centers have evolved, so have the environment
requirements for data centers (for example, the return air temperature and the inlet chilled
water temperature have risen).
Traditional air cooled cooling systems or half-sized/normal-temperature chilled water systems
are facing severe challenges of heat dissipation and energy conservation, and cannot meet the
requirements of new-generation data centers. Newly-developed in-row smart cooling products
are able to solve the issue of heat dissipation caused by high-density deployment, applicable
to new-generation data centers with the design of high return air temperatures and high inlet
water temperatures, and lower the cooling power consumption and the power usage
effectiveness (PUE) value of data centers. Thanks to good compatibility with standard
cabinets, they can be combined with standard cabinets, implementing the designs and
applications of modular data centers.

3.3.2 NetCol5000-C Features

Efficient
 The highly efficient EC fan saves more than 30% of energy than a common fan.
 Intelligent differential pressure control (optional): Saves energy compared with the
control mode of a normal fan.
 Wet film humidifier (optional): Lowers water quality requirements and supports a long
replacement interval, and saves energy by over 95% compared with a traditional
electrode humidifier.

Reliable
 Teamwork control: Enables smart cooling products to work in turn to avoid competitive
operating and supports dynamic cooling capacity allocation and backup of the main
control system.
 Dual power supplies: When the active power supply fails, the standby power supply
takes over automatically. When the active power supply is recovered, the power supply is
automatically switched back to the active power supply.
 Supports a wide range of input voltages to adapt to poor power grids.
 Intelligent differential pressure control (optional): Solves the issue of hot spots due to
insufficient air volume to improve reliability.

Simple
 Real-time display: The cooling capacity, air volume, power, and fan speed can be
displayed in real time on the control panel, which helps O&M personnel grasp the
running status of smart cooling products.
 Professional diagnosis system: Common alarms and faults can be located intelligently.
The intelligent and highly efficient system lowers skill requirements, simplify O&M, and
reduce O&M time.

 Startup wizard: A startup wizard is provided to guide operators through the

commissioning process. The smart cooling product running data is collected
automatically, which helps O&M personnel evaluate the status of the key components of
the smart cooling product, shortens the startup commissioning duration, simplifies the
startup commissioning, and reduces the commissioning costs.
 Automatic fault diagnosis: Automatically identifies the root cause when a fault occurs
and intelligently excludes irrelevant fault causes. This function helps O&M personnel
perform quick maintenance, greatly simplifying O&M and reducing the troubleshooting
time.
 Health management: Forecasts the life of key components and prompts for component
replacement. The function allows operators to know the life span status of core
components so that they can formulate an O&M strategy in advance.

 If the indoor temperature is out of the normal range, an audible and visible alarm signal
is sent automatically.
 Fans can be maintained without power-off so that the normal operations of other fans
will not be affected.

3.3.3.3 NetCol5000-C Monitoring System

The monitoring system provides logic control, data collection, control demand delivering,
alarm reporting, data storage, user right management, and teamwork control functions.
The smart cooling product can interwork with the customer's monitoring system over an
RS485 port or FE port on the monitoring system. If RS485 connection is used, the

3.4.1 System Description

The management system consists of the management software and other components. It
implements data collection and management for various processes and infrastructure of the
smart module.
The ECC800 provides the real-time status, alarms, and configuration information about the
equipment inside the smart module for management. It also provides a graphical user
interface (GUI) for ease of operating and maintaining equipment inside the smart module.
With a flexible structure and modular design, the NetEco can manage infrastructure of a
single smart module or multiple smart modules in different areas in a centralized manner.

bonding grid, and use 30 mm x 3 mm red copper strips for the equipotential bonding bar
based on the customer's configurations.

The new main way connects to the ground grid nearby over the ground point on the general input unit.

3.8 Integrated Cabling System

The integrated cabling system of the smart module includes cable routing devices and cables.

3.8.1 Cable Trough

Cable troughs are installed on the top of cabinets for routing cables. There are two types of
cable troughs: signal cable troughs and power cable troughs.
If a dual-row aisle containment is equipped with one PDC and one network cabinet, power
cables need to be routed to the other end of the module through the control skylight on the top
of the PDC while signal cables need to be routed to the other end of the module through the
control skylight on the top of the network cabinet.

If the distance between two modules is 1200 mm, power cables need to be routed to the other
module through the cable trays on the top of the PDC while signal cables need to be routed to
the other module through the cable trays on the top of the network cabinet.

 Ensure that strong-current cables and weak-current cables are at least 100 mm away from
each other.
 Power cables are first connected to the general input unit in the smart module.
