TIPS TO SOLVE NETWORKING CASE STUDY QUESTION

1. Name the most suitable wing/bldg where the server

could be installed.
Server to be placed in the wing/bldg. where there is
maximum no. of computers.
2. Draw the cable layout
Use star topology
Or
Use the 80-20 rule(connect the bldgs having shortest
distance. For N bldgs N-1 wires are required. No loops.
3. Suggest the placement of networking devices
Hub/switch : in all bldgs/wings to connect all computers
Repeaters: in between bldgs/wings where distance is
greater than 70 to 100m to regenerate signals
Modem(for connecting to internet): should be installed
where the server is placed.
Firewall(hardware/software):A network security device
to prevent unauthorised access to or from the network.

technology is used for connecting offices.
