5. The x- and y- motion of guides A and B with right angle slot control the curvilinear
motion of the connecting pin P, which slides in both slots. For a short interval, the
motions are governed by x = 20 + 0.25t2 and y = 15 – (1/6)t3, where x and y are in
millimetres and t in seconds. Calculate the magnitude of the velocity v and acceleration
aof the pin for t =2 s.

6. The position vector of a point which moves in the x-y plane is given by

Where r is in meters and t is in seconds. Determine the angle between the velocity v and the

and y-components of both the velocity and displacement as a function of time. Include the
effects of gravitational acceleration.
