Introduction to Glass Cockpit
The term “glass cockpit” generally refers to an LCD
display that replaces the conventional “six-pack” of flight
instruments in an aircraft. It’s a term given to any aircraft
in which the primary instruments are located within a
single primary flight display (PFD) or Multi-Function
Display (MFD) that looks like a computer screen – a
large, flat, glass-panel display.

Overview
Line Replacement Unit (LRU): An LRU is a unit which
can be replaced in the field, you need not take the aircraft
into a hangar and open it up.
It actually is meant as a “field replaceable unit”, but since
an airplane in operation is known to be “on the flight
line”, it got its “LRU” designation.
