A. Purpose of Learning
Students are able to understand, distinguish, write, and find information related to
narrative texts in class to carry out functional communication using coherent text
structures and linguistic elements that are correct and in accordance with the context in
a caring, responsible, and caring manner based on their gratitude for the opportunity to

Narrative text
1. Definition:
Narrative text is a story with complication or problematics events and it tries to find
the resolutions to solve the problems.
2. Purpose:
To amuse or entertain the readers with a story.
3. Generic structures:
Orientation (sets the scene, where and when the story happened and
introduces the participants of the story, who and what is involved in the
story)
Complication (tells the beginning of the problems which leads to the crisis
(climax) of the main participants).
Resolution (The problem is resolved, either in a happy ending or in a sad
ending (tragic ending)).
Re-orientation/Coda (a closing remark to the story and it is optional. It
consists of a moral lesson, advice or teaching from the writer).

Meeting 1
a. Introduction activity
1. Praying, checking attendance, and get students ready for lessons.
2. Giving warming up related to the material given

14. Text selection: the teacher chooses a script at the student’s instructional
level. Several scripts made specifically for RT are widely available.
Alternatively, the instructor can adapt his/her own scripts from books and
other literature.
15. Modeling: the teacher reads aloud the script for students to demonstrate
what fluent reading should be like. If an audio version of the script is
available, the instructor can play it.
16. Discussion: discuss the plot, characters, settings, etc. with students.
Vocabulary and sentence structures can be discussed as well to ensure
comprehension.
17. Assign roles: divide students into groups and assign roles to them. When
students are familiar with RT, the instructor may let them choose their
roles.
18. Practice: students practice the role with their peers, and sometimes
practice by themselves. Upon practicing the script, it will take both silent
and oral reading for students.
19. Feedback and comment: after students practice reading the script aloud,
the instructor gives feedback and comments for improvement.
20. Perform: students stand in front of the class and perform the script

Snow White
Once upon a time...In earlier times there lived a, who named Snow White. She lived
with his aunt and uncle because his parents died. One day she heard her uncle and aunt
talking about leaving Snow White in the castle because they wanted to go to America and
they did not have enough money to take Snow White with them. Princess Snow White did
not want her uncle and aunt to do this. So she decided to escape.
The next day she ran away from home when her aunt and uncle were having breakfast,
she fled into the wood. In the wood she felt very tired and hungry. Then she saw this cottage.
She knocked, but no one answered her so she went inside and fell asleep Meanwhile, seven
dwarfs came home from his work. They get into. There, they found Snow White woke up
from his sleep. He saw the dwarfs. The dwarf said: " What is your name ? Snow White said,
" My name is Snow White. " One dwarf said, " If you want, you can stay here with us. ' Snow
White tells all about her story. Then daughter snow and the seven dwarves are now living
happily ever after.
