SEMESTER-I

Student Guidelines - General Proficiency (August-January 2022)


About General Proficiency Course
“General Proficiency, at its base, refers to the ethics of a person regarding his/her
dealings with their work environment. It is imperative to understand what the terms
‘General Proficiency’ means before concluding its positive as well as negative impacts.
Proficiency-based or competency-based learning refers to systems of instruction,
assessment, grading, and academic reporting that are based on students demonstrating
understanding or mastery of the knowledge and skills they are expected to learn as they
progress through their education. In most cases, proficiency-based systems use state
learning standards to determine academic expectations and define “proficiency” in a given
course, subject area, or grade level. To complement the graduate student interest/hobby
like Photography, Drama, sports etc. and proficiency like presentation skills, Ethics,
communication etc. to enable a student to become a better learner a General Proficiency
courses are offered at university level.”

SEMESTER-I

Option-3
Department of Student Welfare (DSW) offered courses

The following process will be adopted for the registration, completion of course and
credit transfer for those who opt Option-3. Table-2 shows GP courses offered by
DSW with seats availability.

3.2.1 Students have to mandatorily use cuchd.in email id for registration and
communication purpose. No other email id will be allowed. In case cuchd.in email id
is not active students may reach HoD/GP coordinator for further guidance.

3.2.2 Student will have to enquire about seat availability and do the pre-registration in
DSW for any chosen course from options given in Table-2 on their CUIMS. During pre-
registration DSW coordinator will provide the seat availability
receipt to student which will be given to GP coordinator before locking the course
on CUIMS. GP Coordinator will lock the course from their CUIMS after verifying the
details and no request for course change will be entertained once the course is locked
in the CUIMS.

3.2.3 No change of course will be entertained once the course is locked in the CUIMS.

3.2.4 Seats of DSW offered courses are limited so first cum first serve basis will be applied
for each course.

3.2.5 Department GP coordinator will ensure that students have registered through
@cuchd.in email id only and follow instructions given by DSW coordinator.

3.2.6 Students will submit weekly progress report about their GP course to GP coordinator.

3.2.7 In case of any query/problem regarding GP course, students will reach to GP


coordinator/HoD who will escalate their problem to higher authorities and provide
solution to students.

3.2.8 All the notifications to students will be sent through CUIMS announcements. Students
are strongly advised to check their official @cuchd.in email id for notification from
Examination department and HoD/GP coordinator/DSW coordinator.

3.2.9 Once student successfully complete the DSW course, there will be an exam conducted
by DSW.

3.2.10 One credit will be awarded for each DSW offered course as mentioned in Table-2.
