Introduction
This document is meant as a quick step manual to let the Denon DN-HC4500 controller work together
with Traktor 3.4.

1. Download and Installation of Traktor 3.4

You can download the Traktor 3.4 directly from the homepage of Native Instruments. Click this link to
get to Traktors site. Here are two installation files. (Win / Mac)

After download of the software unzip the setup file and double click it to install Traktor 3.4. Start
Traktor 3.4 after the installation is completed.
Run the application in the Demo mode. In that mode Traktor 3.4 offers to you the same functional
range as a registered version. The one difference is that this application closes automatically after 30
minutes. So you need to restart it again.

2. Configuration of Traktor 3.4

This chapter shows you how to configure your version of Traktor 3.4 for direct compatibility with the
Denon DN-HC4500 controller.

- Be sure that the DN-HC4500 is connected to your computer via a USB port.
(How to connect the device with other hardware like PC / Mixer can be read inside the
DN-HC4500 manual)
- Users of Windows XP should also ensure that the most recent version of the
DN-HC4500 device driver is installed on their system.
- Save the attached DN-HC4500.tks file to your hard drive.
- Start Traktor 3.4 and select ‘Preferences’
2.1 Preferences
Inside preferences you can do all configurations to let the DN-HC4500 controller work with Traktor 3.4.

a) Expand the ‘Audio Setup” and choose ‘Soundcard’

b) If not already done choose the “Denon DJ ASIO Driver“


c) Open the DN-HC4500 control panel

d) Check if your standard settings set and close this panel by clicking ‘OK’.
e) Choose ‘Output Routing’ and change the Mixer Mode to ‘external’. Set the correct outputs to
Traktors ‘Out Channels’.

f) Return to ‘preferences’ and expand the ‘Hotkey & MIDI Setup’ menu.

g) Select ‘USB Audio Device’ as the midi device. If not already activated, double click the ‘USB
Audio Device’ entry to activate it.
h) Return to the preferences menu and select "MIDI Setup". Click on ‘Load’ to open a browser
window and select the DN-HC4500.tks you have stored on your hard drive.
i) Once the file has been imported press ‘Apply’.
