Shorted capacitor next to NAND - Not putting new in. Replacing it means you are
adding more heat to the board to
reinstall it, which increases the risk of something going wrong. This is correct in
almost all cases, as many
capacitors are in paralel along a power rail and removing one is often within
tolerance for the capacitance of
the entire rail. However, if there is only one capacitor on a line, such as is the
case for many internal IC LDOs
or are on a PCI rail for coupling purposes, then replacement is necessary.

Water damage tricky to diagnose, check panic log. Also there is panic log analyzer.

Software issues - put in DFU Mode and then reflash/reinstall the firmware.

Unplugging flex cable to let the device boot.

Sometimes apple devices won't boot if they have full storage.

Also different problems - iPad black screen after putting in your pin code.

Static on screen after replacement -> reboot the device after reseating the screen
connector.
Don't forget to turn off the device when working on it.

WiFi working and then greyed out in the menu - Grey = Bad chip or powering chip,
weak signal = bad antenna.

Possible to replace screen on curved amoled screens but usually only in china.

TV works just long enough for the logo to display then the led backlight driver
over-current
protection kicks in and shuts off the back light. So usually backlight or
powersupply.

S8+ - Charging stopped, phone temperature is too low - This means bad NFC antenna -
charging coil assembly
because temp sensor is located on that part. NFC coil on modern samsungs has the
battery temperature sensor.

iPhone 8 not charging.

0% on battery icon, related to battery data lines - 9/10 the mosfets have been
damaged, or the battery connector.

Turning on adb(usb-c to hdmi, or keyboard) just to be able to transfer data on

device with broken screen.

Rice is just a myth, best course is to dissasemble device. Stay away from (buying)
water damaged electronics.
CPU and storage are rarely damaged by the liquid damage.

Redmi, most of the time they dont use any shields to hold the display connector in
place.
A 4 years old flagship model will definitely perform better than the redmi mid tier
phones.
They usually use the same cameras for 2 or three generations.

XR and newer models, iPhone will put out error notifications for changed hardware.
Altough notification go away after 2 weeks.
If something happened to the battery and it's no longer detected or holding a
charge, the phone will boot loop even on power.
Need battery to start! Apple devices commonly reboot when it can't detect the
battery.

All aftermarket home buttons for 7/8/SE series devices are hot garbage. No good
option for those who have torn the flex or cracked the glass on the button. JC
makes flex cables that allow you to use an original home button which will work
like original minus touch iD.

iPhone 11 - bootlooping as opposed to being stuck on the Apple logo the proximity
sensor is thing to check first.
Also try to disconnect earpiece speaker if you’ve tried the other troubleshooting
during a bootloop. It usually fixes the issue.

Seen board level IC chip failures after repairs on those iPhone 7 models, like
audio or base band. Did you try to restore it?
It’s possible the file system got corrupted somehow. Hold volume down and plug into
iTunes from a powered off state.
That should prompt recovery mode where you can then update or restore via ITunes or
3UTools.

iPad spot on display - LCD and digitizer are touching. Common with swelling
battery.

Samsungs are picky with aftermarket batteries.

Find My iPhone (FMiP) Activation Lock is an iOS feature that secures your device
against anyone else trying to use or sell your lost or stolen device. When this
feature is emabled, the Apple ID and password you use for iCloud is securely stored
on Apple's activation servers and linked to your device. This needs to be disabled
so you can reset the device and sell it later. DFU restore it if you can.
Activation lock means that FMI is active.

Phone getting hot and draining battery faster after screen replacement.

4013 Error often pops up when you try and restore with a USB hub in the mix. If
you’re using one, try connecting direct to the computer.
I know that sounds like one of the suggestions on Apples site that is garbage, but
I’ve had it work enough times that I’ll only restore
while plugged directly to PC. Also could be could be a bad flex cable.

Loosing touchID when replacing home button.

AP may just flat out deny a device that reports the wrong time - set correct
date/time on device if WiFi not working.

Recognize parts and always compare old with new!

Flex cables can cause a lot of issues, also easy to mess up when taking phone
apart.

The battery can be roughly divided into two parts – BMS board and battery cell. The
battery management system board
mainly serves as a protection board but also saves battery data. The battery cell
is where the power is stored.

iPhone 7 (A1660) made in China that they had a no service issue with years ago -
baseband issue if no IMEI in 3UTool

Back glass replacement - damage to battery, acetone smell - electrolyte leak.

Whe Charge Port or power flex are the issue, the panic string will read out the
missing sensor(s). e.g. mic1,TG0B,TG0V.
Thermistors - CPU receives the temperature from all of those sensors every 180s. If
it doesn’t get a reading from all sensors,
it assumes it’s on fire and shuts down. That’s what thermalmonitord is.

Alcohol to bare LCD will ruin the LCD. It's fine over digitizer but will discolor
the LCD itself permanently,
also never use it on anything other than PCB.

BER - beyond economic repair.

Known good equipment - sometimes there are bad batches coming from vendor, need to
cross that out that possibility.

Water resistant not water proof!

V1SE Programmer.

iPad 7th gen has known CPU issue.

Samsuns S20 - Warning Camera Failed.

If the new screen came with front camera pre installed don’t use it. Transfer
original front camera from the old frame.
Same for cellular antenna in the top corner on s20 and newer models. Genuine
service packs are from Europe and have the
Sony cameras in them. North American models use Samsung cameras. The Exynos ISP
chip is designed to run the Sony cameras,
the Qualcomm ISP chip is for Samsung cameras. Remember to recalibrate the
fingerprint sensor when changing the display.
Also if you are changing the battery make sure to calibrate/clear charge cycles
through GSPN if you have access.
Otherwise the phone will not have fingerprint functions and the new battery will
pefform just as bad as the old one.

Restoring iPhone 12 with dead wi-fi chip can brick it.

Face ID is linked to the TrueDepth camera, whereas TrueTone is linked to the

display itself. The display is loaded with a
serial number that can be transferred to a new aftermarket display using a display
reader, but this will not impact the
functionality of Face ID.

Methodology of changing 12 series iPhones and newer don’t work using the
methodology of 11 series and earlier.
Use a heat gun on the screen edges, but then perfect it using the heat gun around
the metal edges instead. Much faster.

Devices with True Tone technology feature sensors that measure the ambient light
colour and brightness. The device then
uses this information to automatically adjust its display, so it can correct white
point and illumination based on your
environmental lighting in order to render the right kinds of white under any
conditions.
thermalmonitord usually means another (genuine) charging port is needed -
incredibly common from the iPhone XS and newer.
thermalmonitord refers to a sensor on the charging port which can’t be found on
charging ports made by third party manufacturers.

Missing sensor PrS would be the charge port - charge port dock flex.

Samsung A32 5g bluetooth/Wi-Fi water damage

iPhone 11 randomly reseting, check rear camera!

iPhone X and older battery replacement won't trigger notifications.

LCDs used in IPhone 11 Pro/12, Missing waterproof seals, missing screws ->
Unprofessional work.

"You touch it you own it" or tell them it was like that when they brought it in.

Android phones don't serialize or lock parts, so you can only check by taking it
apart,
if you want a fully locked down shit intended to be repairable only by manufacturer
then buy a newest iPhone.

Aop panic is the barometer sensor which is part of the charging port flex cable.

Testing phone with charged battery to bypass bad charging IC(tristar)

A phone with normal charge circuitry will draw several hundred milliamps. A damaged
circuit will only draw a few to ~ 40milliamps.

Timing putting on the glue and the clamps - glue solidifying quickly.

Sandwich boards on newer models - dropping phone, losing functionality usually

means board separation.

Understand what is soldered on which flex cable.

The hard OLED is known for internally cracking easy.

LCD is known for higher battery consumption and can lead to motherboard problems.

The Taptic Engine is a component manufactured by Apple that uses haptic technology
to provide users with tactile
feedback to simulate actions, such as clicks on a stationary touch screen.

Reprogramming a taptic engine - serialization/pairing to the phone?

iPhone 6S takes hours to charge and battery drain to fast - is usually bad battery
or chargeport.

Processor and NAND porting to other board to save data?

iPhone 6 is known for touch disease. Even if you change the screen and the touch is
ghost touching or
not working it would need board work which wouldn't be worth it.

If you need to ask you can't kind of repair.

Using usb mouse on phone to backup and access data.

Blown backlight fuse and it looks like its "off" but instead its just super dark.

Dot projector is a key component that enables Apple's Face ID. The system usually
consists of an
array of light emitting units, lenses, and beam splitting grating(s). The lens
system together with
the grating(s) will project and make several duplications of the array source
pattern.

Macbook need to transfer touch ID when switching motherboards, probably True Tone
goes away.

OLED cancer, dead pixels and black spots.

MacBook with white screen, folder with question mark - Command+Option+R and see if
you can install new OS, sometimes it's
dead HDD or bad SATA cable.

Some Samsung A series are notorious for bad connectors inside.

Differentiate between damaged and dirty connectors.

AMOLED displays are known to die from drops without showing any obvious physical
damage.
Mistaking a broken AMOLED for a dead phone is a common misconception made by
beginners.

Repairing headphones is almost never worth it.

Apple prefers to keep their computers silent as it's more "luxurious" to have a
silent computer.
However this comes at the cost of thermal throttling and worse than that, your
computer will degrade
faster because of that same heat.

iPhone SE that restarts every 3 minutes.

Sensor mic 1 is the main microphone used in calls, the bottom one on the charge
port.
If phone doesn't recognise microphone it will restart, but can also be motherboard
issue.

A type of connector intended to connect FPCs (Flexible Printed Circuits) and PCBs
(Printed Circuit Boards).
A method of connecting FPCs is directly inserting them into the connector.
Connection with FFCs (Flexible Flat Cable)
is also possible.

Pre and post repair checklists.

Even Apple couldn't make the original home button from another iPhone 8 work, the
button is one-time programmable.

S7 edge’s are a pain. They have faults on the main board a lot of the time.
Hold all buttons down to try and force a restart, and try the process again.

Known good test equipment!

White spots on screen if something is pressing on them behind.
