"Bharatiya" is a clothing brand in India established in
the 1970s that specialises in traditional wear for women and children. It is majorly managed by people who follow conventional methods of business and are not comfortable taking risks. These people have years of experience in designing and manufacturing traditional wear.
Their main distribution channel is through the direct
channel of their offline stores and loyal customers all over India. They have 150+ outlets all over the country with the main concentration in Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Mumbai and Pune. Their revenue in 2021 was INR 30 crores. Their loyal customer base has kept the company afloat despite a continuously declining annual revenue. The shareholders have recognised that the venture has reached its potential under its current structure and are looking for a merger that could help revitalise their declining company. "Season's Play" is an e-commerce start-up that was incorporated in 2015. It is managed by creative risk- takers who managed to double up their revenue even through the course of the pandemic. They specialise in selling trendy clothes through online channels and have gained popularity amongst the youth. They earned a revenue of INR 100 crore in the year 2021.
The company is trying to dive into traditional wear to
expand its market base. The company wants to merge with Bharatiya because they recognise the quality of its products and wants to capitalise upon the brand value and recognition that Bharatiya offers. PROBLEM STATEMENT:
You are the marketing head at Season's Play. Your
CEO has appointed you as the in-charge of Bharatiya’s revitalization. You have to analyse the company’s current distribution channel and come up with new marketing strategies to expand the customer base and increase sales.
The CEO has also given you freedom to modify the
products offered by Bharatiya to align them with Season's Play's theme. All of this has to be done while keeping in mind the vision of your company i.e. to contribute to Make in India and a sustainable global economy by 2030.
