LAB REPORT 5
Objective:
To practice basic Modifying Tools (line, Offset, Align, Explode & Array Commands),
dimension command in Annotation Tools and to exercise a 2D Drawing (2D Practice
Drawing-04)
Theory:
Line Command:
The line in AutoCAD is drawn by specifying the starting and ending point through the cursor.
When we place the cursor on the Line icon, a window appears as shown in the below image:
1. Select the Line icon from the ribbon panel or type L or Line and press Enter on the
command line.
The line icon will look like the given image:

2. Specify the starting point and endpoint using the cursor on the workspace or drawing
area, as shown in the below image:

Offset Command:
We can offset any object through a point or at a specified distance. We can create as many
parallel lines and curves with the help of the offset command.
The offset objects can also be modified further according to the requirements. Here, modification
of offset object means that we can apply trim, extend, and other methods on it.

Aligns command:
Aligns objects with other objects in 2D and 3D.

Find
Note: In AutoCAD LT, this command is available only from the command line.
Either one, two, or three pairs of source points and definition points can be specified to move, rotate, or tilt the
selected objects, aligning them with points on another object.
Specify either one, two, or three pairs of source points and definition points to align the selected
objects.
Select objects
Select the objects to align and press Enter.
The next series of prompts asks for source and destination points. The number of point pairs that you
specify determines the results.

EXPLODE (Command):
To explode an object Click EXPLODE or enter EXPLODE in
the command line. Select the objects to be exploded and press Enter. For most objects, exploding
has no visible effect.
FIGURE:
Array Command:
The array is the command used to draw multiple copies of an object in a particular pattern or
order. We can also manage the distance between the objects in the array.
To implement an array, we can type Array or AR on the command line and then press Enter.
We can also select the Array option from the Ribbon Panel. The Array icon will look like the
given image:

The copy command is used to copy the elements in an order defined by us. In contrast, the array
is used to copy the objects with predefined angles and numbers in a fixed order (rectangular,
polar, or path array).

o Polar Array
o Path Array
FIGURE:
Dimension Command:
It is used to display the dimensions of drawings or models in AutoCAD. We can modify the
dimensions in different drawing units according to the requirements.
The dimension area on the ribbon panel will look like the below image:
There are different types of dimensions. It will appear on the drop-down list of the dimension,

1. First draw a circle having given radius of R16 by using the circle command.
2. Now draw a rectangle at the top of the circle hacing size of 8 and then trim the
unnessesary part of this rectangle.
3. Draw another circle having radius R25 by using the circle command, this circle having 8
small circles having R2.5 by using polar array command.
4. By using circle command, draw a circle havng radius R32.
5. Draw an arc of radius R60 to draw the 8 small circles on it having radius R6 by using arc
command and the polar array command.
6. Draw a circle having radius of R70 by using circle command.
7. Now draw a constraction line or center line in the center of the circle by using xline
command and offset this line to down at a distance of 54 by using the offset command.
8. Using circle command to create to circles having radius R19 and R28.5, then by using
trim command remove all unnessesary lines from the circle drawn.
9. Offset center construction line of figure with given distance by using the offset command.
10. Remove all the unnessesary lines of the figure by using the trim command and fillet all
the corners of figure which is nessesary by using the fillet command and draw a circle of
given radius.
11. Draw a circle of radius R94.5 using the circle command.
12. Draw a circle on the top of the large circle having the radius R9 by using the circle
command and remove unnessesary line by using the trim command.
13. By using the polar array command draw the 20 small circles on the large circles, all
having the radius R9 and remove unnessesary line by using the trim command.
