MANUFACTURER INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU STRIP, PAINT AND MOVE THE AOA SENSOR, MAKE SURE THAT THE AOA
SENSOR HEATER OR MFP CIRCUIT BREAKERS ARE PULLED. BEFORE YOU MOVE
OR APPLY MASKING TAPE TO THE AOA SENSOR/MFP, LET THEIR TEMPERATURE
DECREASE SOME MINUTES . IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, THERE IS A
RISK OF ELECTROCUTION/BURN.
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY ADHESIVE TAPE ON THE PROBES, DUCTS AND SENSORS (STATIC,
PITOT, TAT, AOA). IF YOU USE TAPE, THERE IS A RISK THAT SOME TAPE, OR ADHESIVE
FROM THE TAPE, WILL STAY ON THE PROBES, DUCTS OR SENSORS. THIS CAN CAUSE
INCORRECT INDICATIONS ON THE RELATED COCKPIT INSTRUMENTS.
CAUTION: USE ONLY THE SPECIFIED TOOLS FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT. IF YOU DO
NOT USE THE SPECIFIED TOOLS, THERE IS A RISK THAT:
CAUTION: - YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT EQUIPMENT
CAUTION: - YOU WILL NOT SEE THE TOOLS CORRECTLY FROM THE GROUND.
CAUTION: - YOU WILL NOT REMOVE THEM EASILY.
CAUTION: IF YOU MUST NOT USE STANDARD CERTIFIED COLOR BAC 707 TO RESTORE PAINT OR
REPAINTING OF THE UPPER SURFACES OF THE HORIZONTAL TAILPLANE, ELEVATOR,
AILERONS, SPOILERS AND FLAPS, CONTACT AIRBUS FOR APPROVAL OF THE NON-
STANDARD PAINT COLOR. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO
COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.

RUBBER, ALL COMPOSITE PARTS, ACRYLIC MATERIALS, AERODYNAMIC SMOOTHER,
METAL BONDED EDGES, ANTENNAS, PITOT PROBES, SENSORS, STATIC PORTS,
ENGINE AIR INTAKE, PRECOOLER AIR OUTLET SCREEN, ENGINE EXHAUST DUCT,
APU EXHAUST, APU INTAKES AND OUTLETS, AIR CONDITIONING FRESH AIR INTAKE,
CABIN PRESSURIZATION CONTROL SYSTEM OUTFLOW VALVE (ZONE 172), LANDING
GEARS, DOOR SEALS, ACCESS DOORS, CABIN WINDOW AND WINDSHIELD PANELS
AND SEALS, ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AND CABLES, PLASTIC MATERIALS, EXTERNAL
SKIN PANEL JOINTS, HIGH STRENGTH STEEL PARTS, AVIONICS SKIN TEMPERATURE
SENSOR (28HQ) SUPPORT EXTERNAL FACE, AND/OR
CAUTION: - PLUGS ARE INSTALLED IN THE DRAIN HOLES AND VENTS.
CAUTION: THIS WILL PROTECT THESE MATERIALS, AREAS, AND PARTS FROM PAINT
MATERIALS AND WILL PREVENT DAMAGE AND/OR MALFUNCTION.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE PAINT STRIPPERS DO NOT COME IN CONTACT WITH TEFLON-
LINED SELF-LUBRICATED BEARINGS, ELECTRICAL TERMINAL PLUGS, NYLON-COATED
WIRES AND NYLON BRUSHES. THE CHEMICALS IN THE PAINT STRIPPERS WILL ATTACK
THESE ITEMS.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT ALL MASKING MATERIALS ARE REMOVED FROM THE REPAIR AREA
WHEN THE WORK IS COMPLETED.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE METAL TOOLS TO REMOVE THE UNWANTED MATERIAL. METAL TOOLS
CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE COMPONENT.
CAUTION: UNLESS NECESSARY, DO NOT CUT PROTECTIVE FILMS, TAPES, MASKS OR MARKINGS
ON THE AIRCRAFT SKIN. THIS IS TO PREVENT SCRIBE MARKS.

IN) THICKNESS WITH METAL AND 2 MM (0.079 IN) THICKNESS WITH HARD PLASTIC) AND

CAUTION: - USE A SPECIAL CUTTER (REFERENCE MARTOR-POLY PICK NO. 469 FROM
3M).
CAUTION: - THEN DO AN INSPECTION TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS NO DAMAGE ON
THE AIRCRAFT SKIN.
CAUTION: IF IT IS NECESSARY TO:
CAUTION: - PAINT THE ESCAPE SLIDE RAFTS, MAKE SURE THAT THE ADJACENT AREA
AND THE COMPONENTS OF THE RAFTS ARE CORRECTLY PROTECTED FROM PAINT
MATERIALS.
CAUTION: - REPAINT THE BLOWOUT PANEL OF THE ESCAPE SLIDE RAFT, PUT
MASKING MATERIAL ON THE HOLES AND THE BALL LOCK FITTINGS (REFER TO TASK
RENEWAL OF EXTERNAL PAINT BUILD-UP WITH AMS 3095 EXTERNAL PAINT SCHEME).
CAUTION: FOR INFORMATION AND LOCATION OF THE ESCAPE SLIDE RAFTS, REFER
TO AMM CHAPTER 25-62-00.

1. Task Supporting Data
A. General
This task contains repair procedure for damaged top coat for metal, composite and glare parts. Before
you start with this repair procedure examine the depth of the damaged area. If primer is damaged refer
to Chapter 51-75-12-911-003 . If antistatic paint on composite surfaces is damaged refer to Chapter
51-75-12-911-004 or Chapter 51-75-12-911-005 .
NOTE: This procedure can be used to repair damaged base coat + clear coat but the appearance
will not be restored.
NOTE: When you do repainting near AOA sensors, we recommend that you mask the sensors.
NOTE: It is recommended for wet/wet application to use all materials from one supplier for
compatibility reasons.
NOTE: For general information and paint thickness requirements, refer to Chapter
51-75-12-911-001.

2. Procedure
A. Repair of Damaged Top Coat for Metal, Composite and Glare Parts
(1) Remove any loose paint with a plastic scraper.
(2) Use an adhesive tape to check the adhesion of the remaining paint.
(3) Mask off the adjacent area, which will not be treated, with masking tape and paper.

EFFECTIVITY: On A/C ALL
(4) Abrade the surface with emery cloth (320 grade) and chamfer the edges of the remaining paint
around the damaged area.
(5) Remove the abrasive grit, clean and degrease the surface with non aqueous cleaner (Material No.
08BBF1 or Material No. 08BAA9).
NOTE: Alternative solvent according to AIMS 09-00-002 can be used.
(6) Apply primer epoxy paint (Material No. 04DAB2 or Material No. 04DBA3 or Material No. 04DBA1)
or primer polyurethane paint (Material No. 04EAC2) or for external surface of fuselage/VTP/nacelle
primer epoxy paint (Material No. 04DCA3) to the abraded area.
NOTE: Make sure that the ambient temperature and the skin temperature is above 20 °C (68.0
°F) during mixing, application and curing of Material No. 04DCA3
(7) Apply the appropriate polyurethane top coat (Refer to Chapter 51-23-11) or base coat/clear coat.
NOTE: Refer to external livery drawing to identify the type of finish (top coat or base coat/
clear coat ) used on aircraft.
NOTE: Refer to supplier TDS for better matching the appearance with base coat/clear coat.
NOTE: For internal surfaces use top coat polyurethane (Material No. 04JME4).
NOTE: Top coat polyurethane can be used to repair base coat/clear coat however the
appearance will not be restored.
NOTE: Approved combination:
• Material No. 04EAC2 or Material No. 04DAB2 + Material No. 04JAA3,
• Material No. 04EAC2 or Material No. 04DAB2 or Material No. 04DCA3 + Material No. 04JBA3 or
• Material No. 04DBA1 + Material No. 04JBA3 or
• Material No. 04DCA3 + Material No. 04JBA3 or
