Abstract-1
This report will discuss the problem definition, the design Procedure
.foreach component and represent the calculations
Introduction -2
It is required to design an overhead crane to lift a load of 50 tons to
.aheight of 7 meters, and design and select the crane components

3.1 Main Girder :
The Main girder on the path is a box-shaped frame.
The section of the main girder is systematically
analyzed and finite confined calculation method to
include that it has enough strength, hardness and
.overall firmness
5
3.2 Runway Beam :
6
3.3 Hoist :
The hoist is designed to lift and lower the desired
load and is fixed to the trolley frame using either a
hook an/or custom lifting attachment to support
the load. You have the option of two hoist models;
a Munck electric wire rope hoist or an electric chain
hoist. The wire rope hoists manufactured by Munck
are safe, dependable, durable, and are designed for
year of long term use. Chain hoists on the other
hand are designed for lower capacity operations
and ideal for light duty requirements or new
.projects
7
3.4 Trolley :
The bridge crane trolley rides across the span of the
bridge along the girder or girders and carries the
hoist and supported by 4 wheels.
Figure 5- Trolley
8
3.5 Wires :
This wire rope belongs in the non rotation resistant
classification but its strands are compacted and it is
used mainly as luffing wire rope on high efficiency
ship & harbour mobile cranes, container bridge
cranes, overhead travelling hoists, mineral loading
cranes. Extremely resistant & flexible 8-strand
ordinary lay or Lang's lay rope with inner
plasticization, suited as luffing & hoisting rope.
Long service life due to inner plasticization and
reduced rope abrasion, resulting from the smooth
rope surface, also exhibiting excellent flexural
fatigue properties
Resistance against corrosion due to galvanized
wires, the permanent lubrication and inner
plasticization Reliability and safety in operation as a
result of the highest breaking forces, especially
provided by the compaction technology.

3.6 Wheels :
Wheel block uses special bearing surface design,
trolley surface applies the overall process to ensure
horizontal and vertical deflection of each wheel,
high precision assembly, stable operation, and easy
for replacement.
Figure 7-wheels

3.7 Hook :
Hooks are employed in heavy industries to carry
tones of loads safely. These hooks have a big role
to play as far as the safety of the hoist loaded is
concerned. With more and more industrialization
the rate at which these hooks are forged are
increasing. This work has been carried out on one
of the major hoist hook carrying a larger load
comparatively.

3.8 Motor
The electric motor can be used to power a variety
of lifting devices and metallurgical support gear. It
is mechanically strong and has a high overload
capacity. It is particularly well suited to short-term
or irregular operation, frequent starting and
stopping, and machinery with a lot of vibration and
impact. The motor's sealing is good.

Which metal we use
ASTM A709-50 is a high-strength, low-alloy structural steel plate utilized primarily in the
manufacture of bridges. A chemical composition of iron, manganese, carbon, and other
elements enable this carbon alloy to exhibit improved toughness, durability, and resistance
.to harsh outdoor conditions
Heightened weatherability
Good weldability
Why we use steel in crane girder : Steel is an ideal material for bridges. It
is an essential part of modern bridges because it is strong, can flex
without fracturing and has a long life, even in the harshest conditions. It
can be used to build bridges of any length because of its durability and
ease of manufacture and maintenance., while ensuring that it meets the
increasing demands for high performance. It dominates the bridge
.constructions for long span bridges, railway bridges

The brake clutch gearbox is free of maintenance for ten years, reducing
;maintenance frequency and maintenance cost
Faster lifting speed and higher working level can fully meet the
;requirements of production intensity
Fully imported world famous brand with high wear resistance and aging
resistance round steel chain, long service life and good wear resistance;
Moreover, there are many kinds of double-beam cranes, which can also
be designed according to the needs of users , suitable for different
.occasions and convenient for users to use

Applications of overhead crane
1. Steel industries
27
2. Plastics industries
28
3. Automotive Industry
Efficiency is decisive in the automotive sector. That not only
applies to the cars, but production processes must also run
smoothly. For decades, Damage has supplied many sectors with
cranes for safe, reliable and optimized process sequences. Car
production starts in the press plant. Wherever tools weighing
several tons need to be automatically transported for
optimized tooling times, Damage can supply customized cranes
