Prerequisites Basic knowledge of statistics
Course Objectives:
 To provide the mathematical support by way of probabilistic models and statistical
methodology to tackle problems encountered in Science and Engineering applications.

Course Outcomes:

 CO1-Identify different approaches to probability and summarize elementary theorems of


probability.
 CO2-Distinguish between discrete and continuous random variables, and identify when and
how to use their corresponding distributions.
 CO3-Relate marginal, conditional and joint distribution functions and solve problems of
regression and correlation.
 CO4-Identify some real life application for hypothesis testing and solve the problem by using
excel or any other relevant mathematical tool.
 CO5-Explain reliability parameters and system.
