1- Do you often use Internet?

Yes, the Internet is great. I use the Internet to keep up with current events. The Internet has a lot
of quality news articles from many different sources. There is a world of knowledge right at our
finger tips.
Yes, almost every day. I use the Internet for school research, emails and sometimes for map
quest and news.
8- Do you use internet much during the day?
Yes, I do. I am always on interent, either doing something related to my blog or searching the
internet for the places around me where I can travel. Other times I am on social media,
connecting with people I love or responding to people’s reviews on the posts and the videos that
I have made. So, it is kind of fun, being online and doing work whenever you feel like.
9- What do you usually do on the internet?
For most part, I am doing my job of content writer on Internet. So, I am either doing a research
for my next post or making the first draft or editing the post. Apart from this, I love watching
videos on you tube or chatting off with my friends.
2- What do you use the Internet for?
Checking my emails, chatting with my friends, going on Youtube and watching videos, playing
games online, searching for photos and other stuff like that.
I guess everything, but for me the Internet is mainly about people on it, meaning here is where
my social life is
I use the Internet to keep in touch with my family members and friends. I use it for my job and I

TV shows are worth watching tonight or tomorrow.

Everybody was always asking me about my email address, but I didn't have one. I went to a

I like to go out and use the Internet so I don't feel like I am being lazy. I usually take my laptop

connect to the web at home.

A good point is that there is a lot of free information. I can easily stay-up-to-date with all that is

7- How do you think the Internet will affect our lives in the future?
10- What are some of the advantages of internet?
Internet has surely come up with great advantages to offer all of us. Firstly, it allows for free
communication with people far off from us. You see, it is very easy to know how your friends
miles away from you is actually. Also, internet provides us with information regarding anything
and everything. There are so many people writing about so many things and often people share
their experiences helping others stuck in the same issue. Internet surely has made the world a
smaller and a better place.
11- What according to you are the disadvantages of Internet?
No doubt, internet is over whelming and it does provides us with everything but then I believe it
is very addictive as well. I have seen people getting stuck to it and hence spending so much less
time with their family and friends. Also, with youtube and facebook, it is observed that people
are becoming more addictive to them and less efficient at work.
12- Do people in your country use internet a lot?
There has been a recent trend of internet with the coming of smart phones. I surely think that
since the past decade the use of internet has surely risen in my country. You can now see even
the elderly people learning how to use it and chat with their kids online. They would form groups
and laugh at the new watsapp joke. Apart from them, internet is surely very famous among the
younger generation, who is ever so active to use it for either education or fun.
13- Do you do any shopping on internet?
Yes, I do. For items like electronics and bags, I have come to prefer online shopping as
compared to the going to market as the product quality can be easily checked and there are lot of
offers available while shopping online. But, for clothes I still prefer the traditional way of
shopping where I can actually try the clothes and see as to how they look on me.
14- Do you send and receive email regularly?
Not very regularly I would say. But, with me signing up for so many websites and groups, the
inbox these days is filled up with some or other email from any website or company. I usually
mail when it is some official work, otherwise I prefer the social media sites.
15- Who do you usually communicate with?
On email, most of the times the people I communicate with are either my managers or for the
best part, the people who like my blog and comment and give suggestions. Also, I interact with
my clients. I being a freelance blogger, am associated with two sites apart from the one that I run
for myself.
16- How often do you check your email?
Well, you can say like once in every two hours. The point is there are lot of times when I get
some work related emails and I need to respond to them as soon as possible.
17- Do you think writing emails has strenghtend or weakened people’s writing skills?
I would say, it has strengthened people’s writing skills. Now, people are more aware that the
email gets stored and can be used as proof, they make sure that the language written is proper.
So, too an extent yes, email writing has surely helped people improve their formal writing skills.
I think there has been no such difference in the writings skills of the individuals. People who
could earlier write great applications are able to write good emails but the ones who lagged
behind their, still are not able to manage writing good emails.
18- What are some of the disadvantages of emails?
Emails have surely made our lives simpler, but I think they have taken the fun of waiting. It was
not the letter that made it special but its wait that made it more special. With emails, instant
talking is possible taking away the entire fun. Also, there is a security issue with emails. If some
hacker is able to get through your mail id, one has no idea what havoc can be created.

 Personal perspective:
I think the Internet will have a huge impact on our lives. More and more people are using
social websites to keep in touch with friends. I think the Internet will probably replace
TV because most channels are already available online.
 Economic perspective:
Also, I think we'll do more online shopping. Web-based companies like Amazon are
already really successful. In the future, there will probably be more companies that only
sell via the Internet, and I expect we'll spend more money online than in traditional
shops.
 Educational perspective:
Schools and universities might also use the Internet to provide courses, so online
learning will probably become a normal part of life.
 1. How important is the internet to you?
 Extremely important. I depend on it for work, research, study and entertainment, so
without it I’d be complete lost.
 2. How often do you use the internet?
 I use it constantly throughout the day, every day. I check my emails when I get up in the
morning, I use it for work all day and then I watch videos, read books or listen to music
through it at night.
 3. What are your favourite websites?
 For work my two favourite sites are WordPress and Google. WordPress is a blogging
tool that allows you to publish blogs easily and maintain a professional looking website.
Google of course allows me to find the information I need quickly and accurately. In my
spare time, I of course use Facebook like everyone else in the world, but my favourite
site is The Guardian because it allows me to keep up to date with everything that’s
happening.
 4. Do you use apps?
 I’m a bit of an app addict. My favourite app at the moment is one called Stitcher. It
allows you to listen to podcasts and helps you discover new podcasts. You can download
them and then listen to them whenever you have time.
 5. Do you think you use the internet too much?
 I think most people do these days. My problem is that there are so many sites and apps
that you end up checking them way too often and this wastes lots of time. It can also be a
bit anti-social if you are checking your phone all the time when you are with other
people.
 6. How will the internet develop in the future?
 I think it will be more on mobile phones than computers. Smart phones are becoming
more powerful and more affordable all the time, so I think we will see a shift from
people using the internet on desktop computers to mobiles and apps rather than
traditional websites.
 7. Are there any negative things about the internet?
 Being connected all of the time is not a good thing. Before you had to sit down at your
computer and log on and that took time, so you didn’t do it so much. Now all people
have to do is look at their phone and this is too much for me. I’ve been trying to leave
my phone at home when I socialise with friends and family to stop myself from focusing
too much on the phone rather than them

Part I: Group Discussion

What place do you most like to visit?

How often do you visit this place?

Why do you like it so much?

Is this popular with many other people?

Has it changed very much since you first went there? In what way?

I like to head over to a café near my apartment called Joma. It’s not too far away – I can get there
in less than five minutes. It’s actually not very quiet – there are families and kids and people
talking loudly. But I like it because I usually bump into someone I know there and have a quick
catch-up chat. And once I throw on headphones, I can drown out the noise and commotion.

I like it because I can get a free refill for my coffee, and they have healthy food options, like a
vegetable platter. It hasn’t changed since I’ve been there, because I actually only went there for
the first time about two months ago. But I like it because it has a nice vibe and is located in a
pleasant, shady spot.

Part II: Individual Presentations

Describe a useful website you have visited. You should say:

 What the website was

 How you found the address for this website
 What the website contained

and explain why it was useful to you.

I like to go by Reddit.com. It’s basically a giant message board where people post things and
discuss literally every topic you can possibly think of. Most people post as anonymous users,
under a username that they choose themselves. I’m actually not a registered user of the site, but I
go to the homepage every day and see what the most popular topics and links are. It can be a
good way to get another perspective on current events, and learn some interesting trivia. I can’t
post anything, but I can see what other people are saying, and sometimes the things they say are
pretty funny.

I heard about it through a few friends, and decided to give it a try myself. Like I said, I’m not a
member, but that might change at some point in the future if I decide to start posting.

Part III: Class Discussion

1. What effect has the Internet had on the way people generally communicate with
each other?

It’s changed almost everything about the way we communicate. Since the smartphone revolution,
we’ve been able to just pull out the phones in our pockets and message anyone.

2. Why do you think the Internet is being used more and more for communication?
Now, you can communicate with anyone for a cost of practically nothing. In the past, if you
wanted to make a long-distance phone call, you had to pay something like twenty cents a minute.
Nowadays, the rules have changed.

3. How reliable do you think information from the Internet is? Why? What about
the news on the internet?

You can find almost any kind of information on the internet. This is because anyone can start a
blog or a website, and then type anything they want. Even the mainstream sources, the giant
news networks, are subject to what their owners tell them. So the only way to get reliable
information is to check many different reputable sources.

4. Why do you think some people use the internet for shopping? Why doesn’t
everyone use it in this way?

It’s convenient and more private to shop online. And the prices are usually better. The only
drawback I can think of is that you have to wait a little while for your package to arrive.
Personally, I’m impatient, so I like to head over to a store to buy an item in person if I can.

5. What kinds of things are easy to buy and sell online? Can you give me some
examples?

I think you can buy and sell anything. It’s possible to take a picture of anything and then post it
on the Internet. I think you can sell anything from clothing to electronics, all the way up to
houses. There’s really no limits in the digital domain.

6. Do you think shopping on the internet will be more or less popular in the future?
Why

I think it will only get more and more popular. This is because more and more people will get
internet access in the future, and delivery will also grow more efficient. I’ve heard that some
corporations are about to start using drones to deliver packages, which will make things much
faster.

1. Which websites are popular among your generation?

2. Is using the internet a social or solitary activity?
3. How has the internet changed social behaviour?
4. Should companies check job applicants’ online profiles?
5. What will be the next big development online?
6. Do most people have a computer at home in your country? What do most people use it
for?
7. Do you think all information on the internet is true?
8. How can people find reliable information on the internet?
9. How has the internet changed the way we live?
10. How has the internet changed the way we work?
11. Do you think the internet is safe for children to use unsupervised?
12. How has the internet changed social behaviour?
13. How has the internet changed the way we communicate with others?
14. Is having internet access a basic Human Right?
IELTS SPEAKING PART 2: DESCRIBE A TIME WHEN YOU USED THE INTERNET
TO SOLVE A PROBLEM - BAND 8.0+
Describe a time when you used the internet to solve a problem. You should say:
what problem it was
when you did this
how long it took you
and explain why you used the internet to solve this problem.

Well, it has been my habit to always consult Google whenever I need to know something
because I believe that every answer to every question can be found online. Google Search
provides various information like how-to articles or blogs to answer people’s queries.
A few weeks ago, I had a problem with my purchase on App store. To be precise, I bought an
app which is called ELSA speak to improve my English pronunciation and speaking skill. It is an
app based on Artificial Intelligence and the technology of Voice recognition to assist your
learning like a virtual tutor.

After downloading and installing this app on my iPhone, it provided me two options: the
1st one is that I could buy the full lifetime access with 100 dollars, and the second is that I could
try the app in 3 days and then paid 3 dollars per week. At first, I thought it would be great to try
it first so I chose the 2nd option. However, after using for the first day, I was so satisfied and
impressed with this app so I decided to purchase the full lifetime membership because it would
be much more cost-effective in the long term.
When I tried to change my choice, I realized that I didn’t know how to do it, which was a real
shame, to be honest. As a habit, I googled “how to change your purchase option in App store”
and thousands of articles appeared on my computer screen. I picked one article which gave
me step-by-step instructions and then followed them. Finally, I managed to change my
purchase option successfully. It was quite easy and just took me a few minutes.
I felt over the moon because I could solve the problem easily. I also learnt a lesson that
technology is so powerful, and if you can take advantage of it, you can find the answers for a
large number of your questions in your daily life and work. I’m sure that in the future, if I have
other problems with my phone, computer or any other area of my life, I will seek the help from
the Internet and google first.
Topic: The Internet is a good way to meet people
Today, the Internet is becoming ubiquitous. The Internet is a great way to meet people. First,
time zones and geographic boundaries are no longer a problem. Everyone has his own mobile
phone these days. You just need to stay at home and meet people from all over the world. You
can learn and share about cultures and traditions as well as make new friends. For example, there
are many websites for dating, finding lover like baddoo, waodate ... Second, chatting on the
internet is free. Previously, we had to pay about 1000 dong per minute for calls. But now we can
freely chat with applications like video calling, zalo, facebook email. You know, I just moved
here to live and study from Khanh Hoa, so I miss home, especially my mother. Every day I call
her at least 5 calls. Think about it if I did not have the internet I would have paid more than
500,000 VND per month. And finally, I see the most clearly the effects of the internet during the
19 covid epidemic season. We mainly communicate with each other online because we avoid
crowds of people. The Government has organized online discussions and meetings. Even at
school, teachers teach over the Internet. However, I think we should also be careful with the
Internet. Because of the ease of communication it is difficult to avoid contact with thieves,
hackers, and fraudsters.
