STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Name : VINAY KUMAR BODIGE
Degree Sought : MASTER OF SCIENCE
Major : ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
I feel it a unique privilege to give a brief account of myself to your
esteemed institution. I have completed my Electronics and Communication
Engineering at Vathsalya Institute of Science & Technology. My career objective is
to achieve excellence in the field of “Micro Electronics and VLSI Design”. I strongly
believe that graduate study leading to a Ph.D. involving high quality research in
these fields is a necessary step towards my goal.
In this ever-changing world of Engineering and Technology,
where each day sees a new invention and each passing day makes them archaic, I
want to see myself as a well educated personality and transcend new horizons in the
chosen field. The vast application potential and tremendous scope for research in
Electrical Engineering has always fascinated me.
Since my childhood, Science and Mathematics have fascinated me
extremely. During my high school days, I utilized all my free time and worked
towards mathematical approaches for complex scientific problems (physics in
particular). The way these problems could manifest more easily using mathematical
analysis, totally engrossed my interest. With this Interest and command over the
subjects I entered my pre university college with Mathematics and Science as my
major subjects. The studies there added to my interest on Electronics by
introducing the concepts of basic Electronic Devices and their construction. My
aspiration always kept me in good stead in shaping my academic career and
resulted in my outstanding performance with a percentage score of 72 and I was
placed in the top 6% 0f the 1,20,000 who appeared for EAMCET (Engineering and
Medical Common Entrance Test) a common entrance for under graduate studies.
With this I enjoyed a privilege to select the college of my choice for my under
graduation. I chose Vathsalaya Institute of Science and Technology, inspired by its
premier education and research facilities in the vast developing field of Electrical
and Electronics Engineering.
My under graduate studies here was the most crucial for carving
my career in the right manner as this is the period of time I has grown as an active
personality. It has given me a firm grounding in a number of Electronics and
Communication Engineering related subjects like Semiconductor Devices and
Circuits, Analog and Digital Communications, Switching Theory and Logic
Designing, Cellular & Mobile Communications, Antenna & Wave propagation and
in VLSI. I have completed my under graduation successfully with a GPA of 3.4 and
with an aggregate of 67. 5%.
I was very active during my under graduation participating in various
class room discussions and seminars. I delivered various seminars in the class. My
interest in the research is imminent which resulted in my presentation of a technical
paper on “Code Division Multiplexing Access” and “Digital Image Processing”. As
an active member, I helped in organizing various technical symposiums. With a
strong belief that Industrial Visits add greatly to our Practical knowledge, I
organized tours to REGIONAL TELECOM TRAINIG CENTRE, BSNL,
MERRITRONIX PVT. LTD. and MIC ELECTRONICS LTD , the leading
Electronic Corporations of India and also Participated in EMBEDDED FEST 2004.
Each year of my under graduation added to my skills and interest. In the final year
I have completed a project “Automation of RxRf Module Testing of UHF/VHF
Transceiver” Based on Micro Controllers using, RTS, General Purpose Interface
Bus and Inter Integrated Commands. with the help of above mentioned Equipment i
have developed a code in ‘C’ language by which we can test various parameters of
Receiver and DC voltages at various test points automatically without much human
intervention and with in no time. My final year of under graduation adorned me
with a job offer.
Desire for Graduation in VLSI:
My thought process for graduate studies was not made in a day nor a
month nor an year but was backed by my passion for Electrical Engineering all
through my schooling and under graduate study. Right from my child hood, I had a
strong proclivity for understanding the working of electrical equipments. I was
fascinated by the small chips that can perform wonderful tasks later on knowing a
little about it, I was marveled at its capacity to accommodate millions of electronic
components in it. This continuous queries lead to a thirst for VLSI and as a result I
have concentrated much in this field but my thirst was not quenched even in my
under graduate studies. I have realized that only a graduate study followed by a
PhD will serve the purpose. An undergraduate course though comprehensive in its
curriculum, provides limited scope for specialization. Much of the integration of
advanced technologies in any demanding field takes place in graduate program.
Only then one can fathom the depths of this demanding field.
Why New Jersey Institute of Technology?
Considering all the above reasons, when I started looking for a university
to pursue my graduate program, I found that New Jersey Institute of Technology
and its professors were held in high esteem by my lecturers, seniors, and peers in
addition to the considerably good reviews on various websites. Also, when I visited
your website I was impressed by the highly qualified faculty, extensive
infrastructure and the nature of research going on. It is important that I do my
graduate study in a stimulating and challenging academic environment such as that
at your graduate school. I wish to be considered for admission with financial
assistance to the M.S. program in “Microelectronics and VLSI Design” or
“Embedded Systems” at your university and look forward to being part of research
community.
Regards,
(B.Vinay Kumar)
